You could always change the red center to a black center. If that doesn't suit you then ask the tattoo artist what his suggestions are. I'm he will have a few probably from seeing the same situation before.

Show your tat to some different artists and see what kinds of ideas they can come up with.
The only way you're going to fix it is if you cover it. Since his name is in black...it'll have to be a black covering.
Ya know...I'm pictureing the sunburst with a long black dragon right over the top of his name. Big or small...it'd look good.
Should be pretty easy for whatever you pick out. Good luck!!!

I actually drew a tattoo for a friend who had a name on her back. turned the name into a really pretty flower. depending on the size of the name and tattoo already there, that may be hard. Go ask the guy that did your tattoo and see what he thinks, they are the best people to help you out. Be careful tho, just like getting an old tatoo touched up, its gunna hurt more this time because of the already existing scar tissue.

If an experienced tattoo expert cannot help you with a decent solution, then go to a dermatologist and have it removed with laser. One lesson to be learned is that we must avoid permanently marking our body with the name of a person if the relationship is not going to last. People really should stop showing their love for each other by tattoing their names on each other, especially in this era of disposable relationships.

Go to a tattoo artist and explain what you want done. They might be able to offer some solutions. Other than that... laser removal is expensive and painful. Its also not 100% effective. It will fade the tat, but never completely remove it. Check out Angelina Jolie's arm where she got BILLY BOB tattooed on herself. She is having laser removal and its faded alot, but you can still see exactly what it said. Good luck

fill in the red center with all black to blend and hide his name...then go over the center with another smaller sunburst design over that in a contrasting color like orange or yellow

Go to a tattoo parlor. Talk to a few artists and see what they suggest. Talking to ppl on here is not going to do you any good.
