In ancient times, the Greeks believed in polytheism (many gods), like the Romans... and Egyptians. Today, they are considered only as a "myth."

Do you believe likewise that today's religions (particularly Christianity, Judaism, Islam) will become myths as well in the future milleniums to come???

The belief in the Judeo-Christian God existed at the same time and even before many of the currently accepted mythological religions and persists to present, continuing to expand on a world-wide basis.

The more science tries to explain our world, the more they find evidence to support Christian scripture, if not God Himself. (One need only to look to the unprecedented number of Christian astronauts to see evidence of that fact).

Throughout history there has been an ebb and flow to the growth of Christianity and our time is not different. Not too long ago, in my own lifetime, Christianity was the "in" thing. It was fashionable to wear your cross and Christian gear whether you knew a single thing about what it meant or not. There were tons of "Christians" who were in the game because it was "cool." Now the tables have turned and the "cool" thing is to be an athiest and proclaim all those who aren't to be intellectually inept. Of course this position is self contradictory as those who speak most loudy and vehemently against bigotry and sweeping generalization tend to be athiests, who lately have perfected it and made it art.

It boils down to this: What you see around you is largely a product of the political environment. Currently, it is cool to be an athiest. When the wind changes, the sheep will follow. Christianity and other religions based on the Judeo-Christian God are here to stay. One day soon, Christians will be "cool" again and a day after that athiests will be the "it" thing again. Just believe what you believe. Learn as much as you can, and don't waste your time antogonizing those who don't agree with you. It helps no one and it makes you look silly and pathetic.

Athiests have their faithful, theists have theirs, then there are the followers of the prevailing winds. It will always be this way.

Good question...star from me.

Greek Mythology, Roman Mythology have been all legitimate religions then and now. Christianity is a mythology. Creation of one woman and one man that ended in 7 billion folks later is THE finest MYTHOLOGY OF ALL. Biologically, it isn't feasible to breed this many individuals, a lot less quite a lot of members and have an incestuous breeding that results genetic defects that can not fight off infections, environmental evolutionary alterations. No sir, the sector was once now not created in 7 days. Blacks, whites, Asians did not come from one lady and one man, homosexuality will not be a sin, females don't have to obey their husbands, the world isn't FLAT, the sun DOES now not REVOLVE across the earth. All these are Christian mythologies Evolution is real undisputable bedrock of science. It's no longer a conception. It's a truth. All religion is synthetic pure and simple

I find it a very clever question. Many compliments! Actually ... now that you ask ... I think it can really be that way!!! (It is not possible that this World and Humanity will survive according what are doing the so self-called "believers" in anyone of the Religions you mentioned. I mean: people forgot the Spiritual meaning of Religion and started making an own-business out of It. If God is God ... The Creator is The Creator ... I really think It will "erase" what It did -revealing the above Religions- and provide for something which will allow this World and Humanity to sur-vive and, finally, live!!!). -I guess Buddhism will give a hand .... But it is considered a Filosophy ...-. About your profile's picture ... if you go on asking such kind of clever questions, you can keep whatever kind of picture you like!!!

Ah, but the religions of the ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, and other ancient Pagan cultures are making a comeback! The Old Gods are alive and well again, thanks to the Neopagan movement. I believe in Hermes, Zeus, Pan, and Apollo just as sincerely as any Christian believes in Jesus. One man's "myth" is another man's "Truth," and vice versa.

I do think, however, that the mainstream religions will have to change or die as the culture and the world changes. One single monolithic Religion no longer makes sense in an increasingly connected plauralistic world. Many poeple are looking to alternatives, and many of them are looking to the Earth and to the Old Religions for meaning.

No, because the teachings that Christianity is based on have always been the true religion. The ancient religions you speak of were imitations, recollections, and fabrications that resulted from exposure to the one true religion. Christ's teachings didn't start when he was born here on Earth. The teachings of the Son of God have been part of humankind's heritage from the very beginning. Roman, Greek, Egyptian, etc. religion was an imitation of the True Order that came from Adam, Noah and the Patriarchs. Abraham and Moses inherited and continued this sacred system of belief. The ancient Israelites preserved these beliefs, but they had been lost before the time of Christ. Jesus came to restore the original religion that He himself had given to mankind in the beginning. Judaism and Islam are break-offs of this true faith. The mythology you speak of died out because it was only an imitation of true religion. The true religion will continue on forever because it is the word of God and is reality.

Yes. Beautiful though many of te religions are they represent a crucial phase in Man's spiritual evolution, but even Christ knew that the day would come when we would have to move beyond him - cf John's Gospel, the Chapters after the Last Supper...

My hope is that, in the same way in which the world's great religions represented an enormous leap in Man's spiritual and probably physical existence, we will soon undergo another massive change.

All religions express universal spiritual truths through a series of supercharged psychic images which contain within them means by which Man can access his/her spirituality. Europe chose the Christ images of the Trinity etc, India chose the plethora of images of their Gods, the Buddhists chose theirs etc. Each civilisation and age understands the universe in different ways, its images of the Gods reflecting that. The danger lies in when mankind only sees the image and not the enormous resonance behind it. That's when dogma, tribalism and stagnation set in. Then Christ, or Buddha or whoever, get trampled in the name of Belief and Orthodoxy. In the world we live in today the most violent exponents of religion want the images to stay rigid, no evolve. When you want things to never change you start to fight and kill when they seem threatened. This is a false spirituality.

Christianity was a huge leap forward, a major evolution. We will make another leap forward eventually, as predicted, perhaps, in Christianity itself - "a New Heaven and a New Earth".

You say "myth" as though it were synonomous with "false." Nothing could be further from the truth . . . for it is *truth* that myths are concerned with teaching---not the literal truth of the stories themselves, but the cultural, human truths for which they are metaphors.

Polytheism never "died out," btw, and for the last 30 or 40 years has experienced a worldwide resurgence. So a better question to ask might be: why has the ONE myth that insists on presenting itself as both LITERALLY true, and true for EVERYONE instead of simply its own original culture, failed to dispel the inherent longing of so many for the true godhs of their Folk?

god is a human term meaning one with the power and intent to control many humans... Nature has other plans.... the spirit world will give into the 8 guardians of nature.... who are today working to heal the violence of "gods" and put an end to the unatural religions.... the guardians are as follows...

FEMALES...
Birtha... the black earth
Windy...the wind
Flora.....the plant life
Riviera..the fresh waters (rivers and lakes etc...)

Males
Ocean...the salt waters of the sea (it use to be called the seas until Ocean made his name known)
Rocky ...the stones of the earth... (use to be called stones)
Night......the sky
Sandy....the sand of the earth....

They have been battling evil in the human spirit realm for millenia... and today are gaining ground through mother nature... The days of Mother Nature is called Armageddon that is when the guardians will gain the advantage and keep it for eternity... Mother Nature was awoken in about 2002... the great year of battle 2005 (lots of violent storms that year including the one on Saturn.)

Evolution has a way of "Natural Selection", so lets hope that is the case with those three religions. They've done nothing but harm in my view, as well as many others' views! It would be a benefit to the world and snuff out many of the reasons for war, fighting, ignorance, intolerance and arrogance!
