How did you get the idea that that had changed? Who is the "them" to which you refer?
The Bible has not changed.
The Bible tells us that God hates divorce, and that the only acceptable reason for divorce is in the case of infidelity.

Nobody said that divorce in all cases was a sin. Even in Biblical times, there were reasons where divorce may have been permitted.
Divorce and remarriage, under certain conditions, is still considered sinful.
The only thing that changed, at least here in the U.S. was the concept of no-fault divorce. Prior to that, a person needed a reason for a divorce, which included at least one party being unfaithful, or for some other reason.
No fault divorce means that a couple may divorce simply because they no longer wish to be married. It has nothing to do with sin, as divorce and marriage are civil recognition, separate from the religous ceremony.
In the Catholic Church, a divorced party is still considered married until they go through the process of annulment. Marriage to another prior to that process is considered a sin.

God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. What was a sin then, is also a sin now.
Divorce is only honored by God if unfaithfulness exists in the marriage. Even then, however, God hates divorce, preferring reconciliation.
Interestingly, abuse does not even qualify for divorce. In those cases, perhaps physical seperation is in order. God, I think, always wants us to keep the door open for Him to work miracles.
The sin, if any, is the potential adultery with another partner should the divorce be for any other reason than unfaithfulness - remarriage notwithstanding.
It just shows us how much God respects marriage; and, how much we as a society rationalize sin as OK to meet our own desires. It's a twisting of the Truth.

In the New Testament, Jesus is talking to the Pharisees about divorce and tells them that Moses allowed divorce because of the hardness of the Hebrew hearts but said that from the beginning it was not so. That is why He taught that anyone who has sex with a woman that was put away (divorced) would be committing adultery with her. Likewise, the man that puts her away will be committing adultery when he has sex with another. Thus, Jesus taught that marriage was supposed to be permanent. Nevertheless, our civil governments have allowed divorce because people are still much like the ancient Hebrews, hard hearted. The laws of God have not changed. Divorce is still a bad thing but relationships sometimes require severance because people do not know how to love one another. If we truly loved one another as Jesus taught, there would be no need for divorce.

In the old testament, men who no longer wanted their wives would abandon them or kill them. In order to keep this from happening their was a law established which we now view as divorce. In the new testament Paul spends a lot of time outlining the role of man and woman in holy matrimony. He also outlines the "grounds of divorce". Divorce was never considered a "sin" but the "grounds" can be sinful. For instance if a man cheats on his wife (adultery), the adultery is the sin and is "grounds for divorce".

Divorce itself was never a sin. The Bible does tell us that in certain situations divorce is certainly permitted. Ex. If you are with a spouse that is committing adultery you are not forced to stay in the marriage. Also, you do can get a divorce if you are being truly abused. Don't know which religions say that it is a sin?

Well, according to the bible it is not the divorce itself that is a sin. However, according to the bible (sorry, I don't have the exact passages at had at the moment) "laying with another" after you are married is the definition of the sin of adultery unless your spouse is deceased.
The Catholic church as well as other more orthodox religions still believe this. However, there are several denominations who take a less strict view of the bonds of matrimony.

Nothing has been changed. God hates divorces.
A Christian is permitted to divorce under extreme circumstances. One such would be the unfaithfulness of their mate.
Another reason Paul gives, this one becomes a question of choice or conscience, desire by the Christian. Paul stated that the Christian is not bound to an unbeliever, if the unbeliever doesn't want the marriage to continue.
The subject of divorce is not treated here, but sex is:
look at God's standards!

King Henry VIII made his own Church of England so he could get divorced from his wife after the Catholic Church wouldn't allow it. (His wives wouldn't give him male heirs so he wanted to keep trying with other women). This is why people get divorces today and it is not considered a sin to them.
