The same reasons people in many countries do: that soldier is presumably willling to put his life on the line to defend the country - and, by extension, you.
You don't find that at all praiseworthy?

If you have a chance, go to your nearest military base and be there when the soldiers get back and step off that plane, look at their families, look at the soldiers children. And see the tears on all of there faces and think to yourself, if that soldier was asked to get back on that plane and go back to war for another year or so, everyone of those soldiers would give their families one last hug and turn around and get back on the plane.
I dont know why you would ask such a question. Maybe you cannot or will not comprehend what they do for us. The fact is that there is evil in this world, and if it wasnt for the soldiers of the military that evil would be in your life every single day. Think of that when you kiss your kids good night. Or you wake up in the morning where your only worry is what you'll eat for breakfast.
Hopefully one of these days you'll get the picture.

Because some people realize that they could never do what a soldier is asked to do. Because some people appreciate the sacrifices soldiers make and have made. Some people understand why we have a military and they understand the protection they provide for us. Some people also understand that sacrifices that are being made and have been made give people the opportunity to post negative comments about their country, their country's leaders, their country's military etc...on the internet.

Because they are laying thier life on the line every day so that you can enjoy the very freedoms that you do. Imagine waking up in the morning as a soldier and hearing from the Senate Majority leader that we have lost the war. Then that soldier must go out and face death that day.
You may not like war. No one does. However, you must respect the sacrifice that soldiers make on your behalf.

Why not? It's because of the Soldier, the Marine, the Sailor, the Airman, and the Coastguardsman, that we can have such a forum to ask questions and to go about living our free life.
God Bless our Service Members!

Because they put their lives on the line to protect this country. They protect the people and the freedom of the people. Remember them on Monday, Memorial Day. That's what Memorial Day is about.

Because a soldier is willing to put his life on the line to keep civilians in their luxuries.
Civilians are unable to appreciate the sacrifices soldiers make.

It's because of all the military people out there that people like you and I can sit at a computer (in comfort) and not have a care in the world: they are on the line for us every day, when we sleep, when we are awake. We owe them a lot.

My brother is one. He spend 18 months away from his family to give us the freedom that we have. I think that is worth praising him for.
You dont have to "agree" with the war and even want our soldiers to be there. But we do need to support them and let them know that there sacrifice is respected and appreciated and that we will stand behind them.
