This bill is only going to keep people in the shadows....I can deal with the fine and the processing fee's, but sending them back is just going to create another beaurcratic nightmare.....Therefore, these people WILL NOT come forward, they don't want to be sent back, they are at the mercy of the US govt. and these people have been exploited by this country.....It just creates more distrust....

Amnesty is pardoning of the crime. What is the usual punishment for crossing the border illegally? The fines are a just restitution since, that is approximately what each illegal alien costs tax payers each year. If they want to come here and make a good life, then they have to pay the price just like we all do. I don't get foodstamps, free housing, free medical. I have a job and I pay taxes and I pay for what I need. The same should be for them.
And this is not just j walking or speeding. This is a serious matter that is bankrupting businesses and hospitals all along the border that people like you want to make light of. Do you not care that hospitals and drs. who provide services for these families and then don't get paid have to shut down and move elsewhere? Do you not care about how many people that leaves in their wake without medical attention?
It's like a pack of wolves or a cloud of locust that devours all in sight and never gives back in return.

The first time they come over it is a misdemeanor and they are deported. After that it is a felony and they are to be deported. If they are here and stealing social security numbers and falsifying documents I would say that is more than just a misdemeanor. They are also taking jobs that Americans WILL do. They are not paying the penalty that the law calls for and that is amnesty.

It is amnesty because they are illegal. They aren't required to enter this country as defined by Dept. of Immigration. If you were not a citizen, you may understand. Just because they write a check doesn't make it OK. These laws are in place for a reason... do you realize how many people want to come here and are denied? They don't have sponsors, they don't have a means of health coverage. If fact.. because they come from 3rd world countries.. they have never been immunized. Do you realize hepatitis and measles are increasing dramatically because of illegals? If your grandfather immigrated here and had a blister on his hand, he would have spent a month in Ellis Island until he was cleared of any disease. We have these laws for reasons.

it would not be true Amnesty until after it is paid I guess.
the fact is the law has been broken and there are certain punishments mandated by the law any deviation in the punishment be it letting them stay or charging the 5 grand could be then called amnesty

Many thousand people have died fighting for the right of America to exist and now we are are selling American citizenship for $5,000 now?
If the IRS has questions about how much I made they will sit down and go over all my records and they will TELL me how much I owe. The illegals should have to go through the same process.
Presidential Candidate Tom Tancredo thinks we could round them up and toss them out. I agree with him!
See what he has to say about the Amnesty Bill.

Well, if illegally crossing the border is no big deal to you, then what about all the other crimes that go along with it.
-False social security card (felony)
-Lack of valid licenses and insurance when operating a vehicle.
-The plethora of illegal drunk driving and murder of American people through these acts.
I'll bet if someone in your family was killed by someone who was not suppose to be here in the first place, then you would be singing a far different tune.

Being in the country illegally is not technically a crime - but it is supposed to get you deported. If you're not deported, you're being granted Amensty. Even if you have to pay 50 bucks a month over 8 years for it.

Nobody is "forced" to pay anything. If you want to live in the United States, you should do it legally by applying for citizenship and learning English. I wouldn't move to Mexico without learning Spanish first, so learning English before coming to the US seems like common sense...

The punishment needs to be set to prevent future violation. $5,000 is only a slap on the wrist. Chinese pay more than $30,000 to illegally immigrate here.
