Agreed. Though they are both fiction, the Harry potter story certainly has a MUCH more uplifting moral.

Morning Baalam I've never read Harry Potter.

Since evil is a product of the society and the individual I think you should not be making value judgements like that.

At that time when you were punishing people for being godless you killed them all.

Its not your place to judge a culture or society so distant in time that you have no idea of there social morals.

Edit: Just had a cup of coffee and realized what you were really asking. Should I encourage my children to read history or fiction. Just because you don't believe the bible is history doesn't make it so. I still remember the history I took in highschool and have read the history in my childrens school books and I see that history has changed and fable has replaced fact. So given the option I guess I'd vote for history and if your really the free thinker everyone should be educated person you claim to be so would you.

I agree-and that genocide is supposed to be a good story where Joshua is the hero.

Anything to do with witchcraft is a sin. Yes it's evil, it comes from Satan. The Holy Bible is our owner's manual on how to live life and love. Why do you think the world is like it is today? To many children, teens and yes even adults are exposed to too much violence, whether it be from reading books or watching tv. If this country would turn its eyes back to God on which it was founded on society would be so much better.

Evil? A kid's book and a guy who was eating mushrooms in Alaska in July. Mmmm. I gotta flip a coin. Heads it's a story, Tails it's fiction.

I wouldn't let my children read HP. I don't want them to learn sorcery. However, the bible is the handbook for life and can guide you through good times and bad. How can HP help you?

As for the answer below me...check your stats...HP has never outsold the bible. Next time I am in a hotel room I will check the drawer for my HP book! I am sure it will be there! LOL

Harry Potter because it teaches witchcraft. Witchcraft is wrong in the eyes of God. God said don't mess with witchcraft.

if you know which one you'd rather have your kids read already, why are you asking this question and wasting people's time?

Every story may be as evil as good. It depends on the way you look at.
