Two pounds per week is about as much as you should lose on average and still be healthy. You should also utilize common sense with the foods you eat and make sure you exercise. Not eating actually causes you to gain weight in the long run.
I've lost 122 pounds and it took me five months to lose 47 pounds. After that I slowed down some, but I had the weight off in about 2 years. And I've kept it off four years and counting.

A healthy range is 1-3 pounds a week. There will be some slower weeks than others depending on how good you are with food, exercise, and physical activity. There may even be some weeks that you may lose more....and there may be some weeks or consecutive weeks that you may lose none. Your body will face plateus eventually so it all depends on the individual on how fast or how slow you lose weight. It is even harder if you are older, or have medical complications such as diabetes. But yes, to answer your question, in a healthy way 1-3 pounds a week is ideal. So around 4-8 month. Oh yea, I have seen it done before in 2 months. But my advice to you is to find yourself a professional that knows what he or she is doing to help you START off in the right direction and educate you properly. This little investment can help you a long way and save you time and money. But that is your choice. Good Luck!

There are several factors to weight loss such as beginning weight (the more weight you need to lose, the easier it is to take off 1 lb) and metabolism but....
You should aim to lose between 1-2 lbs per week. In the first week, you may lose a little more (like 3-5 lbs) This should take you between 14 and 17 weeks. The first weeks' extra weight tends to be part water weight.
If you lose more than one-two lbs per week, you are more likely to gain the weight back.
Good Luck!

aim for a healthy 2-3 pounds a week.
12 weeks.
Although if you are a larger weight. It tends to drop off faster at the beginning. So it could be less.
But be healthy about it.
Do NOT starve yourself. it will not help. it will mess up your body and your metabolism... plus make you fatter in the long run...
Eat healthily.
And work out a lot.
Walk to places.
Go swimming.
Run.
Play tennis.
Go out dancing...
Cycle places
Etc etc
Good luck =)

It depends on your body fat level, current level of exercise, and how much you eat.
Some people lose that in 2 months, others take 10 or more.
Properly, the average is about 2 lbs a week. 17-18 weeks.

18 Weeks
Make sure you eat small meals 6 times a day. Work out MAXIMUM 3 times a week(DO NOT DO MORE!!!). Cardio work for 40 minutes(Stationary Bikes do the trick), make sure your heart rate is for fat burning(IMPORTANT). Then lift some free weights for about 16 minutes.
