Nice pants, maybe khaki's, and a button shirt with a tie would be a good compromise. Sounds like suit and tie would be overkill, but don't go in jeans.

You could always ask your friend what he means by
"dress up".

Good luck.

No matter what job you are applying for, be it a janitor, clerk at McDonald's or CEO of a fortune 500 company, you should always dress professional.

Dressing professionally shows that you want the job more than the next guy. If you show up casual and the person next to you shows up in shirt, tie and jacket... unless your credentials blow his out of the water, he is going to get the job.

This means that a man should always wear pressed pants, a shirt and a tie (preferably a suit; however, shirt tie and slacks is acceptable here) and da woman should always wear a blouse and a skirt/dress pants.

Good Luck on your interview!

Do not wear jeans of any kind. I don't care how dressy they look. Dress to impress for an interview. When ever you are unsure, you should opt to dress better than you think you need to be. It's better to err on the professional side. While I don't think a suit is in order, a nice pair of khakis, casual shoe (not sneakers) and a freshly ironed button down shirt would be appropriate. Look neat and ready to impress regardless of what the job entails.

Don't dress up it not like your going in there to be the president of the company your going to start out like everyone else being a " Box thrower" So just wear a nice pair of jeans and maybe a dress shirt or new plain clean t-shirt. They are just interested in whether or not you can handle the job, not your wardrobe. Also by the way did you know that on average most people who are box throwers only last about 15 days. But if you can hang in there and be patient and move up into another position like driving the small brown trucks you will make good money and get great benefits.

As a Career Adviser I would advise you to wear a pair of nice slacks and a nice white button up shirt with a tie and some shoes. You do want to dress the part and the part for a company like this would be the description left above.

Good luck on your interview!!!!!!!

You did not indicate whether you were a guy or a girl.

A nice pair of pants, Kacki and a shirt will be perfect. It's "business casual" and will be fine for the type of job you are interviewing for. A nice loafer or closed toe shoe is more appropriate than tennishoes.

If you are a girl, then a nice pair of pants and a nice blouse or Shirt....nothing revealing or low cut. Closed Toe shoes, no flip flops or sandles.

By the way, good luck on your interview.

Ha... my boyfriend had an interview with UPS but the position was for packaging, and boxing things.. so the appropriate attire for that was kinda relaxed.. he wore Khaki pant and a nice shirt and they tourned him around the place (he did not like it).. but It depends what you are applying for. If you are working for an office position, come in dressed like you're about to go work at one. But whenever in doubt always dress up (suit). Btw they called my bf back but he did not want to work back there anymore after seeing the other employees. I hated that he took that decision cuz the hours weren't bad and they paid 8.50/hr!!! But it will cut into his summer classes, so.

listen to your friend. They work there and especially since they know you better than the potential employer.

Also, if they are pulling for youa job, they know the inside better.
