I live in Houston. Any of the North area hospitals, even up to Conroe, would be fine. I want to get on as a unit secretary or receptionist. I've applied at every single one online or by fascimile. There are no numbers in which to reach anyone, or any contact names. I haven't heard anything back. Should I go to the hospital and apply in person???

I would go to the hospital, a lot of the times if they aren't too busy a human resources person will interview you right then, or at least schedule an appointment for a later time.

Applying in person can't hurt.

Also, does their website have a listing of current available positions? Applying for a particular opening can be more successful than just applying in general.

Some hospitals have posting areas for open jobs, and these are often in public areas. Call them and ask where you can find out what jobs are open.

I would dig farther for a phone number for their human resource department. If you have too, visit the hospital and ask to speak with somone in Human Resources, bring a resume, and remember employers want someone who is already working and doesnt seem desperate. Good Luck!
