Visa is an entery permit.

Your passport says who you are and what country you are citizen of. When you get a VISA stamped on your passport, the particular country that issued your VISA permits you to enter its country for certain duration for certain purpose.

A visa is a permission to enter a country for a time, usually stating your business there as well (tourist, student, worker and so on).

It can be in a number of forms, from a stamp in your passport, a pasted piece of paper (also in your passport), to a seperate document that you carry with you.

Sometimes the visa is good for both entry and exit, but sometimes you may have to get two different visa for both.

There are often fees for visas, which ranges widely in price.

Visas can have few or many requirements, ranging from criminal histories to why you're there, to your past travel history.

A document or a stamp attached to passport that permits the holder of the passport entry to that country. Visas are valid for different lengths of time e.g. 3 month holiday visa, 12 month working holiday, residency visa, J1 visa. You must have left the country by the date on the visa.
