I have Win XP and usually with my old camera when i plugged it in with the cable a pop up would come up and through there I could upload photos.... but that's not happening with this one. I have it hooked up with the cable to my computer and turned on and it still won't show me any signs of how to upload them.

The camera MAY need to be turned on to view mode (where you can view the pictures on the camera). This may then start the scanner and camera wizard.

If not, try another USB port or try plugging the camera into another computer.

If the camera is not being recognized at all, on any computer, contact Canon's tech support. In the meantime, purchase a memory card reader so you can transfer the pictures to your computer.

I've experienced this with XP computers too. (I teach a digital photography class)

For some reason the Camera wizard doesn't pop up with Canon cameras.

Install the camera's Zoom Browser software and the media wizard will work again and offer to transfer pictures via the Zoom Browser.

Apparently, Canon wants you to use their software only.

All of the first answer seems correct, however, have you installed the drivers for the camera? They are on the cd that came with the camera or you can probably download them from www.canonusa.com .

The Autoplay might not be working properly on your computer. Try goint to Mycomputer and check if you can see the camera listed there. Click on it if it is. It can also be listed as a Removable drive.

Or, try right-clicking "My Computer", click on MANAGE, then go to DISK MANAGEMENT and see if you can see any disk which is exact same size as the memory card on your camera. Its very likely that its the camera. Then right click on the camera's disk and click on OPEN.

I don't understand why you couldn't put them on the computer as it is. You've got the USB cord. I just have to turn my camera on, put it in the picture-viewing mode, then plug it up and it should come up on your PC.
