Because if they did that, they would have to put EVERY warning possible on that tiny label. I don't know why you would just feed a cat human food anyway when clearly, tuna is meant for humans and not cats.
I think most manufacturers count on their consumers to actually have COMMON SENSE. Does your cat's food say "Do not feed to humans?" Oh, it's doesn't? Oh you could probably have it for dinner then. Have fun!

If the manufacturers did that they would have to put labels on milk cartoons saying "Do not give to young kittens".
A lot of people don't know these things. I might have given tuna to my kittens 15 years ago as I didn't know any better. Fortunately I hate the stuff so there is seldom any in my house.
There are always cute commercials of cats and kittens lapping up milk and I do think the dairy industry should cut that out.

Plain and simple... they market to humans.
There are plenty of Cat Foods that market their fish content, and the fish has been prepared in a way that is actually good for the cats, especially the Omega Fatty Acids that add so much to a cat's healthy coat, and nutrient loving eyes.

Normally our food isn't good for cats. that's why cats have their own food. Our food usually causes diarrhea in cats.
It's best to feed the cat, cat food... it's safer anyway. That's why they don't put "don't feed to cats" on tuna fish labels... coz it's meant to be for people not cats.

It's human food. why should they warn you not to feed it to some other species? chocolate bars definitely need warnings not to feed to dogs, then. Maybe you think human otc medications should also carry the dosages for pets as well? Do they have to put warnings on fish food not to feed to human babies? Do we need warnings on hampster food not to feed to chickens?
The studying it takes to learn enough to know what kinds of human-grade foods are suitable for cats is the reason why there is some truth to the principle that we mere laypersons should only feed pre-packaged pet foods to our pets. If you are not prepared to do that studying, then please only feed cat food to cats.
By the way, never, ever, under any circumstances give aspirin to cats or dogs.

With animals, generally you only want to feed them pet food. Dogs ...dog food...cats...cat food...and so on. Alot of human food will make animals sick simply because they dont have the means to digest it properly. They don't put warnings on it...because its sold as human food, not meant for animals mostly. Like they dont exactly put a warning on the concrete floor saying "you will get hurt of you fall on me"...its just sort of common sense in this day and age.

maybe because cats usually eat cat food and they don't think when they package the cans that cats might actually eat the tuna

They expect people to use common sense when caring for cats. Don't give them people food. People food is for people, and cat food is for cats. There are reasons for separating the two. There is no reason for food manufactured for people to have warnings about feeding it to cats.

then the label would be so huge because they would have to list everthing you shouldn't give things to......this is kind of like the hairdryer having to say don't use in bath tub. a lot of common sence goes a long way, too bad a lot of people don't have it.
cat food for cats,
human food for humans.
how hard is that for people to comprehend?!

For the same reason it doesn't say that on Milk, cheese, chocolate, dog food, onions... you can't assume that people food is good for cats, and the food industry can't be expected to list "Do not feed to cats, parakeets, dogs, horses, llamas..." on every container of human food.
