I believe the main motive behind ALL the evil that men and women do is selfishness. Selfishness is the culprit when one grade school kid steals another kid's pencils, it is the culprit when a married couple decides that they can't live together any more and must divorce, it is the culprit when someone pockets a cheap watch at WalMart, or when a gunman robs a convenience store, or when government officials use their authority to line their own pockets. Selfishness is present in every human being to some degree. It is very easy to say that poverty is the culprit, but think about it...poverty, also, is caused by selfishness. Is there any real reason, do you think, for people to hoard more than they can ever use, while other people go without?
Doesn't matter who you are, or what religion you claim to follow, or if you follow no relligion at all...you, too, have that spark of selfishness in you. So, the next time you drive past the jailhouse in your town, remember that it could just as easily have been you.....

The Judeao-Christian Holy Bible states that rebellion against the Creator God's law was the origin of all sin. The Ten Commandments of God were given to benefit humankind by letting each member of a society know how to relate to their Creator (#'s 1-4) and how to relate to other humans (#'s 5-10). Since the first humans chose to rebel against God's commandment not to eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, all humans have been born into the consequences of that decision and as such are born with a sinful human nature rather than a Godly nature. Sin is defined in the Bible as "The transgression (breaking) of the Commandments" it is also referred to as "lawlessness". The societal laws of all English speaking countries were derived from these same Ten Commandments of God, however crime or lawlessness in any society has as it's "motive or main cause" the fact that humankind continues to choose to go its own way instead of the way of its Creator. People wanting what they have been told they need in order to be happy, yet they are unequipped intellectually or otherwise, to acquire.
In other words, some sections of societies set up very unrealistic goals and standards that citizens are supposed attain, or they are a considered a failure. Most people will never achieve such a level, and are happy to live in their comfort zone.
However some people fall hook, line and sinker for the sales pitch, the more extravagant the pitch, the less likely, but more aggressively these people will try to own it.
Naturally for most, crime is the only answer.
Example:
If you are told that in order to be cool you need a diamond encrusted, gold peace sign necklace, but you work at the local garage for $5.25 an hour, you have limited options.

The breakdown of the belief, and teachings of Jesus Christ. Our society was bassed on a Christian foundation. The people who live Christian lives enjoy their, lives, which is the reason, so many others are attracted to them. Jesus said to do, unto others as they would do unto you. Christians try to treat others, as they would like to be treated themselve. Inside of that, they obey the laws which exist from the Old Testiment. Athiest, and other religions, who try to discredit the bible, can not, because the, bible, was the beginning, and prophetically describes that what is happening will happen. If you give someone who is breaking the law what they need would they break the law. While the church is talking about, homesexuality, crime, and, abortion, does the homesexuality community, see stronger more fullfilling relationships in the Church. Is the church coming up with a plan, to make sure everyone, has higher paying jobs, which brings people out of poverty, which they enjoy doing. Has the church tried to address, why people are not waiting till they get married to get pregnant, or why a teenage girl has to feel secure, by having sex with someone they are not ready to have it with. Is the church, making it a priority, to go out into the cities, in the US, and make a difference, by actions of being good roll models, for the generation which has, never experienced good roll models of the foundation which came from a father, and mother who should have been there for them, their entire lives. I have worked in Prison Ministry, and this is a fact which I had to know before I could work in Prison Ministry.
A) According to research 4 out of 5 inmates have been abused as children, physically, sexually, and emotionally.
B) Most inmates come from dysfunctional families.- mneaning that there was some serious shortcomings in their family life. Approximately 95 percent of the men in jail today did not have a loving father figure in their lives. In the family, divorce, and alcoholic or drug-addicted parent is common.
C) Inmates have a poor sense of self-worth.
D) In the United States the chance of being incarcerated is 6 times higher for black males, than for white males. Poverty, and descrimination may contribute to the racial imbalance. Many inmates feel they are being discriminated against in the criminal justice system because of their color.
E) Before arrest, 3 out of 4 inmates were living at or below the poverty level in our Cumberland County. Many do not even hold jobs, and those what do seem not to be able to hold onto them for very long. Temporary job services offer work on a job site a day or two even a week, and sometimes a person only work long enough to get money he needs to buy food, or purchase drugs. Being without a job seems to influence a person in to criminal activity.
I am going to stop there. There is more, but shouldn't that be enough.

It depends on your definition of crime..
If you go on American society.. just about everything that was illegal is legal today.. organized crime and the evil ones are running our society and government..
take bush for instance He is breaking every law there is on overstepping his authority and says it is because of 911 which he allowed to happen here so he could get this power..
If the bush regime thinks it is going to lose power the will do a terrorist attack here themselves and claim marshal law..
He already has a active general in the armed forces head over all the police activity in the united states..
The only thing left is for bush to have his ovaries tell us..
then he will show his b***s

For face value, money. We live in such a materialistic
society that money has become the perceived answer
to all problems. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of
a person you are or how you got it. If you have it, doors
open, people pay attention to you....the world's your
oyster. It is more seductive than sex and the danger
in it's illegal aquisition irrelevant compared to the rewards
for criminals who basically have nothing to lose to begin
with and everything to gain if they get away with it. It's
a tale as old as time.

Social and economic inequality. Just look at hunter-gatherers; they have practically no crime because everything in the society is shared.

But the 1st & the main cauze is that no one is under control by anything.. N a least percentage has faith n belief in God..
n even if there is .. most of the people are not under control by them selves.. itz like the period when there was no religion on earth to control human beings` behaviours..

If it was poverty, then the great depression would have had the highest crime rate ever, but it did not.
A lack of morals is the reason.
