If you are in the UK you can find out on http://www.autoexpress.co.uk or the trade use a guide called the "Glass Book" which you can buy in most newsagents (or just leaf through and get the idea of the price and pop it back on the shelf)

Try Autos at msn.com, it will give you the Kelly Blue Book price of your car or truck for free. The Kelly Blue Book is the industry standard.

I would go with www.kbb.com and then go to a bunch of dealers and see how much they would give you for a trade in value. I would then take the average of those values and try to sell your car private sale for that much and see if anyone is interested in it. if someone is really interested i would make them a lower offer than what your average was.

On the web, edmunds.com, I think Kelly Blue Book is too optimistic on their apraisals. For the most accurate, go out and buy a NADA guide

Pick up a copy of "Auto-Trader" from a newsagent or supermarket.
Looking up your car, given similar age, mileage and condition will tell you the going market value.
