I going to a wedding this weekend as a guest with my boyfriend. It's some cousin of his or something. I planned on wearing a cocktail dress b/c it's taking place in the evening. I had a really great dress that I bought for a wedding last summer and loved. Now, I tried on this dress again, and I hate it.
I guess it'll do, but I'm really not crazy about how I appear in it. It highlights some problem areas. I don't have a lot of money right now.
Do you think I should go out and buy a new dress that I'm comfortable in? Or, just wear the one that, will do?

I think that you should be comfortable especially since you are going to be meeting alot of his family. You can probably find a dress cheap enough or on a sale rack. If you think that you can possibly be comfortable in the other dress then just go with it but it sounds like your not.

Comfort...all the way. I went to a wedding in August and bought a dress that I REALLY liked in the store. But when I got to the hotel and started getting ready, I realized it was too low-cut and too short for the occasion. I was self-conscious the whole time that I was either showing too much cleavage or my panties were showing. I didn't have a good time at all. I was focused on my dress the whole time. I know you said you didn't have a lot of money right now. Maybe there's something in your closet you already own that can be dressed up with accessories or something. Good luck!

I purchased a really great dress for a winter wedding I went to. It was expensive and I'm invited to 2 or 3 weddings this summer... however, it won't do for a summer wedding! I plan on going out and finding an inexpensive summer dress to wear to all the weddings I attend this summer.
Definitely buy something you're comfortable in. If you aren't comfortable, you won't enjoy yourself!

Women are NOT allowed to put on white, it doesn't matter what variety of rite it's- that colour is reserved for the bride (undoubtedly). This is the one rough speedy rule of marriage ceremony visitor apparel. Afternoon weddings are frequently a little bit classier with out being formal (image dressing as much as cross to a great eating place or the theatre). Since it is in Vegas, it probably a little bit extra comfortable, you realize, whatever that appears great however you'll be able to put on all night time lengthy at a poker desk. When unsure, ask the bride.

Can you do a "fix" with a shawl, or crocheted top of some kind to de-emphasize the "problem areas?" This may be a lower cost accessory than a new dress, and you could wear them with other outfits. Funny how you can love an outfit, then re-visit it later and not feel the same.

If it was a dear friend getting married and I thought I would be in pictures, I would get a new one. If this is some distant cousin of your boyfriend, I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you think it's going to drive you completely crazy the whole time, in which case you'll be better off to get a new one.

I think that if you unhappy with the dress you have then you should be going out and getting another one because you will be uncomfortable in the old dress and you will not be able to enjoy the outing . by all means go get another one . that way you know you will be comfortable and enjoy yourself . good luck and enjoy the outing .

If you do not have the money, then wear the dress, if you have some extra cash, go buy something nice and cheap. Target has great dresses and they are very cheap.

Who doesn't love an excuse to buy a new dress?!! If finances are an issue, the old one will do. You liked it once.

If you aren't comfortable - I'd get something else.
Do you have a girlfriend who has something you can borrow? Doesn't matter since these folks aren't likely to see her in it later!
Or, there are lots of sales in the Post Prom area ...
