That you can't wear masks at Trunk-or-Treat parties in the Church parking lot.
Masks conceal your face, and that's inspired of Satan. Unless, of course, a woman's mask is translucent white and it's in the Temple. In that case, it's inspired of God and you call it a "veil".

That Halloween is great! I love Halloween! It just might be my favorite holiday of all (I can't decide between it and Christmas).
Every Halloween Salt Lake City is overrun by LDS (Mormon) kids trick or treating in costumes. I did it for years and wish I still could.

I love Halloween... I am Mormon and I have always loved it. It is a night to pretend to be any sort of character you want. Sure, we tend to keep ours on the cleaner side... but no, we don't get all freaked out about it... it is a holiday... meant for fun.

Hi. I'm Mormon (LDS)
Halloween is a fun holiday. However, we don't get into the satanic creepiness that a lot of people nowadays get into. Like most of the gory movies and R rated stuffs. But yeah, we dress up and go trick-or-treating :)

I don't believe there is an official stance one way or the other, but the church prefers to distance itself from Hallowe'en's pagan and occult origins.
Many local chapels host a "Trunk or Treat" night where members park and line their cars, and distribute candy in a safe and controlled environment. My kids usually made the rounds several times before they were finally 'outed'. Me too.

As far I know, the church has no official stand on Halloween.
Most members participate but don't indulge in the darker side if the holiday. Somebody mentioned not wearing masks at parties held at the church. I think this primarily for safety reasons.

The pagan origins of the day are not observed. It is simply a day to dress up in costumes and go around obtaining candy from those in the neighborhood wishing to share.

Mormons celebrate halloween openly. I however know the origins and believe it to be a very un-godly holiday.

MMMMM. Candy! We have parties, mazes, games, refreshments, trunk and treat (where everybody gathers in the church parking lot and hands out candy from their cars - that way, older people don't end up scared or up late, kids don't end up wandering off to places they don't know, etc)
Basically it's just a fun time to dress up and get candy. No undertones.

They celebrate it but they discourage member not to go trick-or-treating but rather trunk-or-treating...People put candy in the trunk and parking the church parking lot and kids go around to the diff trunks and get candy.

They think is a pagan celebration but I believe they do celebrate it. Being a non-practicing Mormon and being born on that day I celebrate regardless.
