how is the government linked linked to democracy?i am interested to know a detailed explanation as i can never quite explain it properly.not as in telling me what the parliament is but how is it linked to the concept of democracy?

People often misuse the term "democracy." Like the US, Ireland is a "Republic," meaning the people do not make the choices, rather they choose who to make the choices for them and hopefully in their best interest.

Ireland is a democracy because the people of Ireland vote in the people they want to govern the country.If the people had not got the choice of who to vote in then the country would be a dictatorship as the people would have no saying.this is why Ireland is a democracy because the people vote for who they want

A government is supposed to be working for the people. Although sometimes one wonders ... especially in the case of George Bush.
