Many people just take the bait the trolls throw out. People don't understand that many are just asking questions to get a rise out of people.

People sometimes get offended because of the way a question is phrased. Other times it has more to do with the fact that they are sensitive and simply react strongly anytime something comes remotely close to hitting a nerve. Still again others like the debate and just appear to be sensitive to something. There is no definitive answer. It's easy to read something you don't agree with and out of knee jerk reaction post a comment or observation which can be taken wrong. If you look through several different forums you can easily find threads in which someone asks a question (or comment in the guise of a question) which serves no purpose but to inflame people into responding just so they can get some kind of response whether positive or negative. When something blatantly wrong or flat out stupid is posed it is hard sometimes to restrain oneself from commenting even when you know better. I'm as guilty as anyone of having done this myself in response to such questions. The smart thing would be to overlook those type of things and move on, smarter yet would be for someone to not post them. It's human nature however for people to take a stance for what they believe in and the fact is that on too many occassions things become heated and get out of control and completely off base.

People have this character trait that makes them defense whenever their beliefs and thoughts are questioned. You are not exempt, you have just been educated to enough to understand that the opinions of those around you do not make you who you are. It is a Good thing when you can have the ability to allow hurtful comments to slide off your back like water on a duck. You unlike many of the others that come to Y/A have matured to a level that ensures that people's immature attacks on you are not to be taken personally

Some people are thin-skinned and take it to personally. I just look at it as an enlightening experience whether the comments are in my favor, or an alternative point of view. As long as it is not a direct personal attack, at which point anyone would become defensive.
Enjoy your day, I wish you peace.

People choose to be offended, usually out of habit, or not being able to accept that people see things in different ways, and/or have different beliefs.
It seems to me that most folks are not able to set their beliefs aside in order to consider another point of view. They are free to return to their beliefs at any time, of course, but maybe they are afraid that someone will "change their mind", so they switch on the defense mechanism.

Only egoistic persons get offended. It is actually the ego that gets offended. Where ego is not dominant, people tolerate criticisms. We have to be compassionate to egoistic persons like we show compassion for many with other defects. Only by being a ego-less living example, can we help them.

Those that are sincere are not offended, but in love offer their opinion, to share another side.
Here's to you. Have a blessed Thursday

There's probably an equal number who are antagonistic and that's the thing I don't get. If you don't believe in God - fine, but why belittle those who do, and vise-versa? Some of those here who profess to be Christian make me embarrassed to be one myself. The judgementalism and hypocrisy is rampant.

People in here think they can make others change their views?
Well good luck with that!
The most you can hope for is to stimulate discussion and thought.
Leave ego out of it and enjoy!
