as my strength began ebbing away that I must not drown on Easter Friday because I am an atheist?
I was rescued by the wonderful surf-lifeguards on patrol.

GRITS, sure I tried that but the currents were going all over the place and very high surf...difficult to hold you hand up in those conditions.

We have strange thoughts at those moments. When I almost drowned at age 16 I kept thinking about how my Mother had told me not to swim there...

Next time, learn the proper way to swim out of a rip current. Don't try to swim against it. Swim parallel to the shore until you're out of the "rip" and then swim to shore (they're really not that long and if you don't panic and start drowning, you'll make it all by yourself).

Why sweat it? You probably would have been risen a couple of days later anyway.

Was the life guard named Michael or Gabriel?

Because you are not a true Atheist. A fake Atheist is just as bad as a fake Christian.
