I believe in God, and Jesus and want to live my life for them.
I just can not seem to totally release myself to do this. I feel like I am failing, and then I become discouraged.
I want a fulfilling life with God, but I feel like I can never maintain it.

Has anyone felt like this?

Please I do not want answers that suggest that I don't need God etc...I am looking to get closer to Him, I have no intentions of denying Him.

Just remember, friend, that it's forgiven... I want to do that too, and I've often felt complacent or lacking...

Just remember that it's forgiven. When Christ became human, He knew the sorts of things we go through. He knows that the things of our grueling, daily lives get in our way. He knows the stress that we're succumbed to. And He, having once been man, also knows how to intercede with God the Father on our behalf. Christ is always praying for us, always showing the Father His nail-scarred hands, reminding the Father (and us) that the price for our sins is paid. Christ is our counsel, Christ is our advocate. He intercedes on our behalf.

However, when I find myself in a spiritual rut, I often find that a prayer retreat or weekend getaway (just you and/or you and a small group, but of course your Bible) to the mountains or a spot by the lake often helps. Sometimes it's good to feel like we can escape life, and just go somemplace in solitude (mountains, banks of a quiet river) and pray. That's very spiritually filling, and for a while afterwards, you'll feel spiritually alive!

My first question would be, what makes you feel like you are failing? Do people give you this impression or is something inside telling you that you are not doing a good job? I would encourage you to keep the faith and keep pressing hard toward the prize. There are many people around the world fighting with you.

I battle with complacency from time to time also. Don't let complacency get you down, just never forget about God's grace that tells us even when we screw up or are not giving 100% we are still loved and seen as perfect in God's eyes. Distraction is a huge tool that the enemy uses to keep us from giving 100% focus on God. If following God was easy and hassel free, then life would be boring. God uses these times to test our faith and strengthen us. God's glory is worth fighting for. I know you can do, stay strong.

I think most of us become a "wilderness Christian" at some point in our walk with the Lord. Like the Israelites, they were brought out of slavery and promised the Promised Land. Yet, an 11 day journey became a 40 year struggle for them. Even though they had the inheritance/blessing of God already they had not taken the steps to possess it. Many of us from time to time stand at the very edge of our "Promised Land" (God's Plan for us) we look at it and we want it, but it seems too difficult to get there and sometimes even impossible. By not completely releasing yourself to God, you are standing there looking at what He has for you, but you have to find the boldness to step toward it. . .to want it. God will not make you but He will enable you if you want Him to.

You are not failing and God's word tells us to not be discouraged. You are human, but you want God and that is huge. He will help you, He will lead you and guide you, He will enable you to do that which seems impossible for you. . .ask Him and be willing to follow.

Don't go through life just looking at God's promises. . .receive them. God bless you, dear, on your journey.

I think every Christian's felt like this at one time or another, and it seems in the last couple of years God's been calling many of us to more intimacy with him. What I've been doing is spending a lot more worship time lately, I try for at least an hour of night of listening to stations like http://www.praiseonfire.com and taking some time not to ask for anything, but to praise him and be in his presence. It may be tough to do this at first, but I think if you perservere you'll find this is what you're being drawn to. God bless....

i'm worried and uneasy around them, many times. The ''born-agains'' have a trend of bobbing up me experience very uncomfortable. there are various in those communities who've an extremely elitist way of thinking (''no authentic Christian might ever try this or have confidence that, or make a mistake''), and that's probable what does it for me. Mulereiner and Crusader grant appropriate examples of this with their solutions. i'm going to guess $50 they do no longer have confidence that the Eucharist is the literal physique and blood of Jesus Christ, yet this is precisely what the Bible says. nevertheless, i'm no longer a ''authentic Christian'' to them through fact it truly is what i've got confidence. i do no longer only like the way maximum of fundamentalist communities are so wrapped up in politics, nor am I a Zionist who needs to ''hurry God up'' whilst it comprises Biblical prophecy. this sort of outlook makes me worried for how forward for the entire globe. yet to be honest, the leaders of fundamentalist communities are doing plenty to assist human beings lead extra advantageous lives. they help their congregants with dependancy, moneyhandling issues, and all way of alternative ''residing issues'' extra desirable than countless different communities i've got observed. it truly is the place we average kinds could desire to probable stand to take notes. i've got confidence that any one who considers himself to be extra advantageous than yet another for the easy actuality that he's Christian hurts Christianity. I additionally experience that ''hellfire and brimstone'' preaching does an identical, yet those messages and attitudes could desire to come from any member of any Christian denomination. Peace, Drew

Through our sins we all have failed God...we have all fallen short of His glory.

Job said it best to God, after God "set him straight", when Job said, "I am insignificant."

We cannot work our way, or buy our way into heaven or God's favor. We cannot go to church enough, feed enough poor, help enough old ladies across the street, adopt enough orphans to pay the price for our littlest sin! Christ, however, did it all for us!

Our only significance - and it is REALLY BIG in the eyes of God the Father - is what Christ has already did for us -- He died for us.

Therefore, regardless of our lot in life, or our feelings, or anything...we ought to live a life of profound gratitude to Jesus for what He did. We ought to seek His will for our life. I often pray..."Lord, please open the doors and close the doors in my life to show me Your will -- and make them VERY clear." He has always been faithful. When I'm His servant, doing His will in all aspects of my life, I am through faith glorifying the Father....and I am at peace.

- We all have our own stumbling blocks to overcome, but walking with the LORD is a lifetimes work.

- The key is to be diligent in our journey to serve the LORD.

1 PETER 1:6-8

6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

7 that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

8 whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory
