Think of it this way. Once someone kills once (even if it is an accident) it makes it easier to do it again. I can understand not wanting to ruin his life but he took that risk by even getting a prostitute. You need to tell on him. This prostitutes family deserves to know that their daughter or sister is dead. I also understand the need for money. Although life will be hard, by not telling you are endangering yourself with the law and if your son was found out and the law found out that you knew something then you could get in terrible trouble. That would put you in even worse trouble. Think of all the consequences.

If you know what you're doing it can bring out some of the good traits, but you also increase the risk of bad things showing up. You're basically just better off not doing it. Especially if the rats came from a pet store, because they're already horrible inbred then.

Gee, that's a tough one. At the very least an anonymous phone call should be made to the police so the family can be notified about their daughter/sisters death.
The thing of it is-is it happened and you can't change that. The question is, can you and he live with this?
The right thing to do would be for the two of you to go to the police and explain what happened. I must tell you, though, that this will be on his record and could very well ruin his carreer.
I suggest he go to a priest and get guidance there.

If this is true, he's already ruined his own life. It doesn't matter how much charity work he does now or in the future. He killed another human being. How can you still say he's a great kid? Are you thinking it's OK because it was a prostitute? Would it not be OK if he killed one of his college buddies? Go to the police!

I think you should rat him out. Next he's gonna just push somebody for wanting soup or push them off the roof of the church or push one of his mentally disabled brothers and the ravine will be full. His attorney fees will probably bankrupt you, after all, he's a good boy so you will want to defend him.
The attorney fees will cancel out any money he can possibly make getting a good job. So, see, telling on him now will only improve the quality of both your lives. Thanks for the two points.

This is a very difficult situation in which your son has placed you. You are worried about ruining his life without consideration of the fact that the "prostitute" has no life left to ruin. Her family members can only wonder who the hell ruined hers. If this is your "most successful son," he has failed already by not meeting his obligation to face his responsibilities head on. Absent his reporting of this event, your also fail by not doing so yourself. I suppose if someone killed your son, you would understand if their mother didn't want to "rat" them out.

My instinct is to say yes. You and your son need to go to the local police department and speak to them about this. No matter what your son killed another human being (it doesn't matter that she was a prostitute). And if it was an accident the police will be able to determine that and the charge is a lot different than premeditated murder. I wish you and your son the best of luck and God's comfort and support.

It isn't ratting - it's reporting a serious crime.
Whether your son was trying to or not, someone died because of his poor choices.
Give him the chance to turn himself in - or if he won't - then you should do the right thing and give an anonymous tip to the police.
Not an easy thing to do - but such are the consequences of our choices.

Assuming this is true, the deed is done. Now you have to consider the positive vs the negative about "ratting" him out.
Ask what good will be served, what harm will be done. How will society be improved if you do or do not turn him in. How society be harmed?
Go from there.

What does your conscience tell you? How would you feel if you were the prostitute's mother and either one no one ever found her or she becomes as your words said, just another prostitute. God is the judge here, we aren't. Good Luck and many prayers. I'm sorry you are going through this.
