I'm not European, but I've never heard any "anti any other religion" terms before. Which ones in particular have you heard? Antisemitism, as a term, has traditionally carried with it much more hostility and hatred than prejudices against other religions, as it is stained by the residue of the Holocaust.

Well as Peter D has pointed out antisemitism is also being anti Arabs, Akkadian refers to the people of Iran and Iraq. Formerly known as Mesopotamia.

Antisemitism is associated with Nazism. That offends a LOT more people than just Jews. I personally believe is is wrong to malign anyone else's religion with the intent to belittle them.

It is offensive because it's been happening off and on for centuries. It's been going on for so long that they have their own word for it.

BTW, technically anti-Semitic also covers discrimination against Arabs (as well as Phoenicians and Akkadians, whoever they are).

anti-semitic is not really religious, it means of against people of semitic race (which include arabs)
