It depends on your reason for wanting time apart. If you really care about this person, you don't need time apart. If you are unsure of your feelings then time apart is probably for the best. Don't hang on to a relationship just to keep from feeling lonely, there are other people out there that might be a better match for you. Just make sure that this is really what you want. Good-luck!

I don't think you screwed up, but I am sure you scared your partner. When someone says "Time apart" , many people hear "I really want to break-up with you but don't want to hurt you."
If you really just want time apart, perhaps you could just reassure your partner a bit so that the time apart is good for both of you.

Possibly, did you give her a reason why?
My now husband did this when we were dating and I persisted with the relationship after about a month of not seeing each other (we also shared some bills).
I missed him so much and didn't think he was really feeling what he thought.
I was right! After talking I found out that he missed me after a week, but wanted me to make the first move to get back together!

That depends. did you want time apart because you wanted to be with someone else? If so, she will find out and then yes, you screwed up and will probably not get her back.

Would need more information... However, if you are regretting asking for time apart, then yes, you did screw up.

if she agreed on spending time apart you didn't mess up. if she didn't say anything or said no then you screw up!

too vague info. if you are asking this today and it was just last night, maybe. give it some more time and thought to be sure. abscence does make the heart grow fonder.

No not quite, it all just depends on what happened that made you say that...if you feel right about saying that then yes you did do the right thing.

Yes because that makes the person think that they did something wrong and ruined their relationship.
