Consider this for a minute. I am a child of the 60s and I KNOW every generation rebels against the one before it. You look at Europe and they had their chance to experiment with right wing, ultra religious governments. They HATED it! The young people eventually rebelled and are now very secular and all about freedom, diversity and equal rights.

Perhaps we should let the right wing religious experiment with America go unchallenged. Let schools nix science and sex education. Let's ban abortion and birth control. Let's put women back into the homes and out of the working, military, corporate world. Let's shut down Hollywood and all forms of non-Christian artistic expression. Ban all non-Protestant/Evangelical forms of worship, practice because America is a "Christian" nation etc. Teach our kids that ONLY Christians are God's chosen people and all others are evil from Satan and going to hell. Hunt down and prosecute homosexuals. etc.

Let's see how we like it. What do you think?

Perhaps it is the ONE surefire way of fighting Christian fundamentalism. Because when the generation fights against it and America returns to a secular democracy once more, ANYTIME someone is even TEMPTED to revert to a right wing religious state, they can look back and see. 'Well we tried it and HATED it!" just like the Europeans tried it and KNOW they hate it and cherish their secular freedom.

WOW! The responses by the Christians on the board are mindblowing!

First off, I am not atheist. Far from it. I just believe that religion, including MINE should be in my home and place of worship not in our government.

I am a patriot, I believe America should have Liberty and Justice for ALL!

It's sad to see you think differently and really prefer a theocracy to a secular democracy as our founding fathers intended. AMAZING!

You do realize that once we start legislating Christianity we will will have to agree FIRST on WHICH Christian denomination will represent American Christianity. Let the sectarian wars BEGIN!

I'm headed for Canadia, eh.

And so are a lot of our top minds and talent.

Edit: Oh, and I'm pulling all of my investments out of the country. The stock markets would collapse.

Adam S, the French are the toughest I have EVER seen on Islamic extremists and on immigration. They won't even let Muslim women wear head coverings.

And any one of the 50+ million Americans with no medical insurance would beg to differ about who has the best health care service for its citizens.

And when since did "Liberal" become anti-Christian. I am Christian and very libetarian on a lot of issues? I prefer to live in a society that allows ALL to have freedom and justice.

Still would rather not, they have all the tanks and the guns. How can you be sure the youthful rebellion will stand a chance when daddy owns a Mac 10? And the heathen nations across the pond won't like seeing television evangelicals with their finger on nuclear weapons.

The national socialist party of Germany was pretty radical and fundamental, and giving them guns probably wasn't the best result history's seen.

We've already tried it. It was when children used to go to school and get an education instead of getting pregnant, assaulting teachers, killing each other, etc. Why go back to such a terrible state of affairs? Everything is much better now.

yes, thanks for putting all us knuckle dragging, slow, ignorant, trailer trash right wing nuts into one group. None of us could have a clue about tolerance, or forgiveness, or love much less understand science and how the world works.

What you are about to get is just the opposite, you are about to get a liberal, socialist president with a muslim vice president and they will give you socialized medicine, and a redistribution of wealth that will distroy America as we know it.

I am a Christian, I understand the science that lied to many and convience them that Darwin was right, this science was disproved 50 years ago, I understand hackels experiments with embryo's were faked and disproved long ago, I understand that Darwin kinda missed the Cambrian explosion that disproved evolition as a theory, I understand that we have electron microscopes now that help us to understand the language of DNA and Amino Acid sequencing, I understand the inteligence needed to form simple life not just a life sustaining universe that ins fine tuned to an razors sharp degree.

I know God, not only by faith, not only personally, not only in a close relationship but also through science.

I love the one that created me and always will.

FINALLY A LIBERAL THAT I AGREE WITH!!!!
Sounds good to me! BTW, how's that "anything goes" mentality working out for the Frenchies about now. Do they have a strong, healthy society? No, they can't even stand up to the Islamic extremists that they've "compassionately" let into their country. It seems they are rebelling by electing a "conservative" president.

Quit your whining. You speak as though the religious right is GAINING ground in the USA. In fact we're losing ground every day as our society becomes more and more self-centered, materialistic, and narcissistic. But if you want to give us a last "hoorah" I'd be okay with that.

Eeek!

I think that's a terrible idea. It would be funny for a while, but as we've seen with Germany (and other nations) inertia in a fanatical direction is a bad thing. And of course people like you and I would almost cease to exist. We would certainly be legislated out of our right to opposition.

Yikes!!! I really don't want to be here for that, if it's going down that way. Do we get a warning, like 30 days in advance so those who don't want to take part in that experiment can opt out and relocate temporarily?

Won't work.....because the people whose lives will be affected during this "experiment" will be forever changed.

There's a place for Right Wingers in America for the people who believe and follow that way of life.

Hold the phone...Morality, Spirituality and concern for life and happiness are wrong?

Perversion, libertarianism and secular humanism are right?????

Where are our heads people???? Even if your person beliefs are not in line with Christianity,
there is only one belief system with acceptable moral standards. Now ...getting people to go by them is another story.

Well things aren't looking good right now so maybe we should go back to Christian Morales and Christian ethics. We didn't have these problems in the early 20th century. And if you look back on AMERICAN history whenever AMERICANS were in trouble or needed help they turned back to religion (CHRISTIANITY). SO yeah maybe we do need to go back and let the real Christians run America
