Also, if I were to take care of a dog, what would I need to charge and should I let the dog come to my house or should I go to the owner's house? How much should I charge for pet sitting? Lastly, how do I advertise? thanks for all of you input. I appreciate it.

Well... I would want to know if you have experience walking larger dogs.. I wouldn't be able to let you walk my dog if I thought there might be a problem. What would you do if another dog came up and started a fight.. Do you have insurance that will pay vet bills if my dog gets hurt?
Do you have dog experience? Would you be able to handle the dog if he decided that he didn't want to go the way you were thinking of going?? If he yanked you down the street, and you couldn't gain control, would I have to pay more for a looooong walk?
You should stick to petsitting.. Fenced yard, babysitting a dog that can't get away from you.. you don't need to worry about dogs that are allowed to wander coming up on you and causing problems etc.

Since you are still young, people might have a little bit of a hard time trusting you. Start out small. Take care of a family member's, neighbor's, or family friend's dogs. See how you like it, beacuse what if you end up hating the job?

If you like it and do a good job take care of the dogs, ask the owners if they know anyone else who needs the dogs walked. Word of mouth is a great tool. People will be more likely to 'hire' you if their friend told them you did a good job.

Also let's say that someone is interested in having you walk their dogs, set up an appointment to meet up with that person and meet the dogs before you have to walk them. If you and the dogs don't feel comfortable around each other, than just refuse. better to be safe than sorry. Have your parents or an adult family member come with you on this meeting. Also see if they can help you during those doggie walking. I think that most people will trust you more if you had an adult to help you - at least at first.

Also keep in mind that this is a big responsibility. If the dog bits someone while you are walking him, than it's YOUR fault and YOU will be charged. If a dog runs away or gets hurt, it will be YOUR fault. I would use extra caution when dealing with other people's dogs.

Good Luck

Grace, I would think the best way to advertise would be to go to your neighbors that have dogs and let them know that you will be providing pet sitting and dog walking services over the summer. Most people do vacation during the summer and many people, myself included, prefer to have someone come into the house and care for my pets. I would trust you if you seemed interested in what you were doing and were interested in my pets, as well as coming across responsible and mature (so your age isn't a huge deal, at least for me). It would probably be easier to let the dogs stay in their own home, provided that you can walk or have transportation to the owner's home. However, if your parents don't mind the dog staying with you, it could be a good selling point, since the dog would have someone watching it and supervising it more than just the 30 min per visit you might spend. Do you have a community or subdivision clubhouse or billboard? A local free newspaper where you could advertise? How about your vet, if you have pets yourself? Many vets have billboards, where you could post a pretty, nicely decorated sign. Same goes with PetSmart or Petco. If you have a dog walking park in your area, hand out your homemade flyers. But make sure that your mom or dad can drive you to the homes if they aren't within easy walking distance, and help you out, if necessary.
I don't know how much you should charge. I think it depends on how much the kennels/pet hotels in your area charge, and how much other pet sitters charge - - as well as if you are going to the owner's house, how many times a day, or if you are keeping the dog at your house. Same with the dog walking - - I think it would depend on how many walks, and how much other walkers in your area charge.
Good luck!

First of all, I'd recommend that you charge depending on the size of the dog. You could find that out, along with how long to walk it, with the owner.

As far as pet sitting goes: if you already have a pet, then you could tell your customer that, and assure them that you have experience. You could also decide with the owner if you should go to their house or they come to yours; it all depends on which is easier for the owner.

For advertising, I'd type some flyers and post them around the neighborhood. If you see someone walking their dog, you could give them a flyer. Tell your parents to spread the word to their friends.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Like maximum of have suggested, shoveling driveways, raking leaves, mowing lawns, walking canines, toddler-sitting, and assisting around the barn are super the style to get money. once you're fifteen you should easily have the skill to %. up a summer, get admission to point pastime at a close-by save. attempt to no longer purchase far extra desirable than what you do no longer choose, i've got considered it ensue to too lots of human beings. additionally, in case you ever end at those merchandising machines with little toys in them, rather, take the quarter, greenback, or although, you may spend on the sport, and placed it in a piggy financial enterprise. For the pony itself. he's going to fee you a particularly penny, so superb to save up. (And for people who've the skill to pitch in with the boarding fee, deliver somewhat of that money here too.) 2. For horse aspects. Tack, grooming, lunging, even though it truly is you go with or desire for a horse. this sort you do no longer lose all your rather horse money. 3. to your person own spending. in order that which you do no longer decrease out the relaxing in existence. (: working example, as quickly as I had a $40 allowance, $20 went to the 1st pile, $10 went to the 2d and $10 went to the third. (in order that as that it truly is clever.) as quickly as I have been given to be fifteen, I extra in a fourth and a 5th pile for my motor vehicle, through fact my mothers and fathers would not purchase me something to assist. Baha. Over all, solid success. You sound like a faithful guy or woman, so i'm hoping you may get what you artwork for! (:
