Someone wrote in my HS yearbook, "You've taught me a lot of good things, even though you may not realize it." I thought that was a lovely compliment.

a guy who worked at a cafe i used to frequent was vaguely infatuated me. he'd always openly stare, cup my hand in both of his when giving me change, & once he stared at my mouth for so long that he'd forgotten to take my order. i wasn't ever sure what to do about it, but it was really flattering especially since i don't really get approached by guys. i suppose it's not an actual 'compliment' but i always took it as one.
otherwise i think the best compliments are the little ones friends will say as though it's blatantly obvious & an established fact, like "yeah, but you're intelligent so of course the exam was easy for you!"

My son gave me my biggest compliment his first year in college. He gave me a hockey-stick for Mother's day. I was a bit offended as I thought he did it so he could use it. I asked why he'd get me a hockey stick. He said "Because, mom, we want to spend time with you!" (He played a lot of street hockey at the time and I had roller-blades.) My mother's day card read "Little children love their mother's. On the inside it said, "Big kids do too.".

"You're the most beautiful person I've ever laid eyes on. Not you're face - you."
After years of guys saying I was pretty to look at just to get some kisses, it was such a breath of fresh air for someone to say I was a beautiful person on the inside.
Needless to say, I was hooked, and three years later we were married.

My mother had been dead for about 3 years when I bumped into an old friend, a guy who was my hair stylist for years...but he had to stop doing hair because he was dying of Aids (he was a homosexual man and a very dear friend). Anyway, we saw each other in the Supermarket. We talked for a bit then he said: "Miriam I am so proud of you, you have really worked hard, you got your degree, you have a good job! I know your mother would be proud of you." Then we hugged. I was so touched by his comments that when I went out to my car I couldn't drive because I was crying so hard. I hadn't heard those words in such a long time and I so needed it, him saying that to me just gave me renewed strength to keep on keepin' on!
God Bless his soul as he has been dead for seven years.

well my boyfriend tells me very single day that I am beautiful and I love it! One compliment that I got a long time ago, was " I just think the world of you!" and that was a good one too! :-)

A strange man on the internet asked me to marry him. That was the best comment in the world.

There are two. One is after every birthday (I'm 34) when I get ID'ed for booze, they look at my license and say "I'm sorry! You look so much younger!" Cool, I've still got it. :)
My hubby tells me often that he doesn't know how he found a woman like me and that I'm perfect. It's really sweet.
