Christians are criticized, I believe, because so many are self-righteous. They judge and condemn people as though they were God, instead of using Jesus as their example. Some of the comments on here are so hateful, I wonder how people even dare call themselves Christian.
I was brought up to believe in God, to believe in Jesus as my saviour, and to love my fellow man. I do not feel I have the right to tell anyone they are going to hell for their behaviour or their views. I cannnot see what is in their hearts, so how can I judge them. We are all guilty of sin, what did Jesus say about the one without sin throwing the first stone. Well I'm no stone thrower.

ANyone who is as stuck up as yourself which is proven by you stating "even though we'll rite in believing in god and u guys r not" (which doesn't really make sense anyway) is going to be critisized. I only critisize Christians or any other group when they have YOUR type of attitude. I think you need to grow up.

I think any religious belief is up for ridicule. Christians are a group of people who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Christians are generally good people trying to live good lives and spread the word that life can be a better place. There will always be those people who have resentments and try to make themselves look better at the expense of others.

Well now let's see.

First of all, whatever group you're speaking for must not be very intelligent because, clearly, you can't even spell - so let's leave the discussions of important matters to those who CAN. Secondly, I personally believe that the only criticism that is RIGHTFULLY aimed at ANY religious extremist is when that person or group becomes so steeped in their own self-righteousness that he/she/they become(s) completely intolerant of other faiths or points of view.

Not that I expect you understand any of that - if spelling is a challenge, I assume critical thinking is way out of your league.

What kind of English is that you're typing? I think you're saying you believe in the right God, and the Heathens are wrong.

I don't think people dislike ordinary Christians, but the ones that are preachy, holier than thou, and uppity, are a problem. Also, any religious practitioners that "know" they are right and that others are "wrong" are pretty annoying. For one thing, no one "knows" anything. We all guess, surmise, infer, or believe. So get off your high horse and believe you "might" be right, cause you don't "know" anything.

Because the fundamentalists and the religious right have given all Christians a bad name. We're not all gay-hating conservative evangelicals who believe that every word of the Bible is the literal word of God, but since the Christians who fall into that category are so outspoken right now, many non-Christians have a warped idea of what our beautiful, peaceful, loving, non-judgmental religion is really about.

Because it seems like 90% of the christans I meet either a) try and convert me, b) can not see the forest for the trees, or c) are all to preachy and have to inform me of everything I am doing will send me to hell.

Because of smart a*s comments like this!
now before u added the ur right & we r wrong line...i would have said i dont criticize someone for having faith or believing in God i only criticize those who try to convert or preach to us who do not want to be preached to,if i want to hear someone preaching,or if i want someone to pray with me i will go to church i dont want them coming to me trying to push their believes on me.I think it's great that people have something they believe in if that works for u then great but if it doesnt work for someone else don't try to push it on them...it's like drinking or smoking if u dont drink or smoke u dont want someone trying to force it down you,do you?

I think "criticize" is an understatement. Actually, I will be very surprised if they love Christians.
