My boyfriend thinks I complain too much and I've tried to stop doing it as much, but sometimes I can't help it and I don't realize when I'm doing it.

Does anyone have any advice to help me stop complaining so much?

Lets see. What is it that you are complaining about. If it is usually something about him or something he does then complaining is probably your subconscience telling you that you are not really happy being with him. Are you really happy? If you are then the only way you can try to stop is to just think before you speak. In your mind you want to complain about whatever so when those thoughts come into your head try to bit your tongue.

when you already feel like complaining about something, try to hold your toughts for a bit and not talk about it, think if it's really worth complaining for and how would it affect your bf's mood and your relationship? we're living in a world where there are lots of things to complain about but complaining doesn't help anything. doing something about it does help. nothing can be perfect so we should just be grateful for what we have and be optimistic.

I complain all the time and my husband recently said something to me about it also.

So, lately I noticed when I feel the itch to complain and I think about it before it even comes out of my mouth. I think about why I am upset or whatever. Then I actually talk to him about how I feel instead of actually complaining about how I feel. Does that makes sense?

Like say I he wants chicken and I want steak. I DONT say "well, I don't want chicken today, I had chicken yesterday, I'm sick of chicken."

I say, "you know, I'm really in the mood for steak, do you mind cooking me some steak on the grill along with that chicken?"

Think about what your upset about and what would fix it before you open your mouth.

I do the same thing. I try to stop and think about what I'm about to say before it comes flying out of my mouth. I've also been told that I'm a whinier and that embarrassed me.

Focus on yourself and not on changing someone else.
How to stop something is to stop it. don't react--think before you speak and then you will realize taht you are going to complain before you do and can chose not to.

People don't like hearing it. Listen to yourself. Think how it sounds to others. Silence is golden.

the only person who can change you is you. all you need to do is stop. you are not posessed, so you do have the power to control yourself.
