Back in the 70s people were more inclined to purchase vehicles with better mpg due to rising gas prices. What has happened since then? Why have people decided that they need a 3 ton vehicle to drive one person around? Only an idiot would utter a sentence beginging with, "It cost me ___ to fill up my SUV". So? How is a person supposed to reply to this statement: At least you don't drive a Sherman tank; I don't care how little gas mileage your vehicle gets; You sound like a smoker complaining about the high cost of cigarettes; Well, buy some stock in an oil company, duh; Basically, you're stupid; In ten years you could have saved tens of thousands of dollars by improving your mileage, but you are too dumb; Have you checked your tire inflation, air filter, spark plugs lately; Maybe you should carpool, duh.

So people with several kids should drive little cars that barely fit 4....Ignorant child, you must not be old enough to drive. You complain and whine more than the people who do have to pay the hefty gas prices.
Yes, we should complain about the prices, because many don't have a choice but to drive a large vehicle.
Edit: I make fun of people cramped in there little specs, looking like an uncomfortable fool to save 5 dollars a week on gas. What's the difference? To all his own.

I own an SUV. I drive 150 miles a day. I get gas every other day. I also own an SUV that gets 26 mpg. Owning it wasn't really a choice. I own this vehicle because I need something that can make it down the road in the winter AND that can tow a trailer. Last time I checked, a Honda Prius can't tow anything.
I'm also in a position where it's impossible for me to carpool with anyone. Why? 2 reasons: 1) I need my truck for work. I end up driving to different automotive plants around here. 2) After work, I go to school. This is 30 miles away from home. Not exactly the best for carpooling.
So, you should probably take into account the number of people that NEED trucks and SUV's in their daily life before you start yammering on about nothing.
In closing, I see that YOU are the dumb one. Next time, do some research.

I don't laugh at them, but I don't feel sorry for them when they complain how much they paid for gas.
My husband and I had to pay $550 for our gas bill last month and now we are car pooling to work and that will probably cut our gas prices and when we can afford it, we will be buying a car will really good mileage to save even more!
My husband also is very dilligent about taking care of the cars and making sure that we are getting the best mileage we can get for now!
But when I see an SUV going down the road, I think, well, if they can afford it then so be it, but they are still crazy!!!! And I better not hear them complain!!!!

Yea, and they all drive 80 on the freeway--I never get passed by a Corolla or VW Tdi, once in a while a Prius will slip by but they're allowed---the only way they benefit is if they're full of people like buses...if you figure out people miles per gallon, like 8 people at 15 mpg versus 4 people at 25 mpg---the SUV is better but how many times do you see that. Should just go to rationing or have separate pumps for SUV's at 5.00/gal to pay for poor people's gas. And gov't should limit profits for oil companies--they've done it before.

I did have an SUV and loved it, it really wasnt bad on gas I got about 22 mpg. The reason I bought it was because we live out in the country on a dirt road that looks more like a logging road. Plus with kids theres plenty of room.

No, I often think how much better off I am in my little Nissan Altima filling it once a week. I also like that I can fit into one parking space and have room to back out without pulling up 3 times .

Hey Paul H, last time I checked this is a free country. You sound like a socialist. You should change your name to Robin Hood. Make the rich pay for the poor. If you make the money, you get to spend it any way you choose. Wake up!
