I went to a wedding where the groom wore khaki's, a yellow dress shirt, a navy blue blazer with a blue and yellow tie... he looked gorgeous. It was very 'Nantucket' and honestly looked so nice.
Try something like that -- this wedding was on the water in ME and was the attire was very appropriate.

You could wear what is called a "morning suit" which is more like nice slacks and a suit jacket than a tux but still traditional. Depending on the style of your wedding you may be able to get away with nice khaki slacks white dress shirt and a light linen suit jacket or blazer....or black slacks white collared shirt and a black sport coat.
Good luck and I hope that you find the right answer to your question.

why no longer do a topic wedding ceremony? you would possibly want to do a superhero wedding ceremony or a wild animal wedding ceremony---anybody contained in the marriage party dresses contained in the kaki shorts and blouse and helmet of say an animal safari and also you and the groom might want to gown like tarzan and Jane yet more beneficial formal... OR anybody as clowns together with the bride and groom or any form of diverse issues ..... if comical isn't your difficulty, attempt a intense topic... like a civil warfare topic the position the groomsmen are all in gray accomplice clothing, the groom is in a Union military uniform and also you and your bridesmaids might want to all be southern belles. there are one of those vast quantity of procedures you'd be inventive and overlook the tuxes....any halloween costum keep would have the clothing to employ that you'll favor --and also you may make it as humorous or intense as you wished... something diverse would particular be a wedding ceremony anybody would keep in concepts for a life-time.

Dress shirt and tie is young and casual. They only issues with this is pinning the boutinierre on. If you go with just a shirt, tie and no coat make sure they wear an undershirt so there is a little bit more material to pin flowers to. Otherwise I like the look. Best wishes.................

A black suit would be nice. It's not as formal as a tux but would still look appropriate.

My ceremony is going to be informal as well. I asked the guys to wear black suits. They'll still look neat and formal enough, but comfortable. Also, it'll be a LOT less expensive for them.

instead of having a jacket just put them in nice black pants, a shirt and a tie to match the bridesmaids dresses

Just a nice suit. Maybe leave the top button of their shirts unbuttoned and have no ties.
