Ironically, this doesn't sound like a friends with benefits arrangement to me at all - especially since you mention that you still love him. From what I see, he was your boyfriend, or maybe your exclusive partner, and at the same time he was not prepared to commit to you and have you become his only partner. Maybe I'm reading into this wrong? If you have a current boyfriend now, you need to make the decision for yourself which man you'd like to continue to pursue, and then maybe it's time to leave the one not chosen in the past where he belongs? Good luck!

Maybe because they like being with you? I've had a friend with benefits before, and we are still friends today, because she is a nice person to be with. We just decided that the benefits part had been fun, but it was time to end it. C'est la vie!

Maybe he/she has another friend with benefits that is occupping his/her attention at the moment and your there just in case things don't work out with the other person. Some people just need to be assured they have access to sex

You didn't describe the circumstances...I'm going to guess that maybe he got a steady girlfriend and to sleep with you would be cheating on her.
It says to me that your friendship is valuable to him and the most important part of your relationship, so he's willing to give up the sex and remain your friend.

Because they have someone else they are interested in pursuing a future with and no longer want to sleep with you. But they want to keep you around in case it doesn't work out with the other person.

I think that's called "friends". Many people have them, you should try it.
If a Friends with Benefits relationship can't handle the loss of sex, then it wasn't much in the way of friends to begin with.

Maybe b/c she really has feelings for you and if you aren't benefiting anymore with her she probably still wants you to be around. i would ask her what her intentions are.

They might love you, and its painful to have a physically intimate relationship based on nothing, with no reciprocation, per se. Maybe.
