Biological explanations
In 1993, Dean Hamer found the genetic marker Xq28 on the X chromosome. Hamer's study found a link between the Xq28 marker and male homosexuality[36], but the original study's results have been disputed[37]. Flies bearing mutant alleles of the fruitless gene, causes male flies to court and attempt to mate exclusively with other males.
Non-biological explanations
Environment
There is some evidence that gay men report having had less loving and more rejecting fathers, and closer relationships with their mothers, than straight men.[70] Whether this phenomena is a cause of homosexuality, or whether parents behave this way in response to gender-variant traits in a child, is unclear.[71][72]
Mental illness
Homosexuality is no longer regarded as a mental illness by the scientific community. In 1973 the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality as a disorder from the Sexual Deviancy section of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the DSM-II.[79] The World Health Organization's ICD-9 (1977) listed homosexuality as a mental illness, and in 1990, a resolution was adopted to remove it in the ICD-10 (1993).[80] The ICD-10 added ego-dystonic sexual orientation to the list, which refers to people who want to change their gender identities or sexual orientation because of a psychological or behavioral disorder.(ICD-10 F66.1) Some organizations, including the United States Department of Defense[81], the Roman Catholic Church[82], and reparative therapy groups do not accept the mainstream medical position.

Christians say Homosexuality is a choice.
Science and Darwinism say that Homosexuality is not a choice but a natural inclination of a defective member of a species to avoid the propagation of a defect.
Given the choice between believing science and Homosexuals are born that way because they are defective or believing Christians who claim homosexuality is a choice, a sinful choice, I will stick with Christians.
I do not believe any homosexuals I know are defective. I think they have made a life style choice.
PS: FYI: The term "homosexual" was not coined until the late 1800's so thinking that the Bible does not address "homosexuality" because it does not use that term is ridiculous. Further, most words used to describe homosexuals throughout time have been considered inappropriate language and people did not usually "cuss" when they were writing scripture.

Homosexuality is a choice, it may have been made by children influenced innocently but a choice made and often forgotten even, but remain to continue to influence the child as it grew. Yes heterosexuality is a choice you made from your influences you had. You chose heterosexuality at such a young age you forgot choosing this, and it influenced you as you grew. You may never had an influence that caused you to become attracted to the same gender. Even if you had, you may have not chosen it. It is a choice, maybe innocent and forgotten but a choice.
Yet I also believe homosexuality is not unforgivable. I also believe some people may have agreed with God before they were even born to be homosexual for his plan, and perhaps they would be lead out of this sin if they continued to live Gods plan and help others leave the sinful lifestyle as well. Love the homosexual as your neighbor and pray for them.

Of course it's a choice... as for being "discriminated against", the homosexualy community is the most catered to group in America today. Political leftists continually appease even the most extreme requests. People choose to be a part so they can feel special. It happens all the time. To say homosexuals are an outcast is a joke, people walk on egg shells not to offend homosexuals. God doesn't "make" anyone gay, people can "choose" their lifestyle. I have no doubt that internal factors contribute, but in the end, it's a choice. Internal factors contribute to all sorts of conditions, but most people "choose" to normalize their lives... if homosexuality is internal, then it may be morre akin to a mental or physical condition implying that it can be "remedied". Just because it's internal, doesn't make it something everyone has to accept.

I think it is important for Scriptures to be quoted correctly. What many people do not understand is that the following passages mean something different than some take it to mean.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (New International Version)

9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Many heterosexuals who quote this verse forget that they are included in this passage if they have committed adultery. (By the way, I am heterosexual, so I am not just saying all this to justify my own actions.)
Here is the same passage in King James since many people believe it is the better version.
1Cr 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

How can people use this passage to justify being prejudiced against homosexuals when it clearly indicates sins that many heterosexuals do?
I am a Christian, but I can't see why so many Christians use the Bible as a device to justify judging others. We are instructed to "judge not lest we be judged."
I believe these verses are describing those who violate others, not those who are together consentually. There has to be wicked intent for someone's choices to fall into what this passage is discussing. Where it uses the term "homosexual offender" this seems to mean those who commit sexual crimes against others, so this would include pedophiles, but it does not seem to mean homosexuality in general--just those who do things non-consentually. The important thing to remember is that no matter what we have done in our past, this passage also makes it clear that we can put the past behind us and be forgiven.
No one can judge whether another will go to heaven because no one knows what God has forgiven in others. We can only know what God has forgiven in ourselves. We all need to be true to God and accept how He made us.
The homosexuals I have known have always had a natural attraction to the same gender. They did not decide when they were little children that they wanted to be different from many of their peers and develop a physical desire for the same gender, yet they knew from then that they were different. I'm talking about when they were still young enough to be naive about sexual situations and were not yet capable of making such a choice. Instead, it was already a factor in their nature to begin developing desires for the same gender long before they came into contact with others who were like them.
I have a very close friend who is a lesbian. She led a very sheltered life and did not even know lesbianism existed until she was in her 20s. She had heard derogatory remarks since junior high about male gays, but even then, she didn't realize there was anything sexual about the behaviors of homosexuals. She just thought they were people who either didn't want to date or couldn't get a date so they were just super close friends with the same gender. Even with her naivete, she developed an attraction toward females at a young age. She had no desire toward a man ever in her life and she is nearly 40 years old. She has not yet acted on her homosexual desires because she was raised in church and is struggling with the concepts the church taught her about homosexuality being a sin. She can't understand why she has always had such desires if this is not how God made her. She didn't make the choice for the attraction to females to start in her life because she didn't even know this was an option for anyone when it began happening to her.

There is a verse in Romans 1 we see an interesting accounting of mankind in his fallen state.
Ever noticed that verse 21 says that men knew God and although they knew God they did not glorify Him and they became darkened in their reasoning etc..
Vs 26-27 we see that women left the natural uses of men and men the women .. this is an unnatural desire..
A man with a woman is natural. the way God intended it.... i tell u my friend.. when people do not hold God in our thougths.. they are easily open to all the deception of satan who is the father of lies and deceit.
Eventually God gave them up to a reprobate mind a disapproved mind where they did as they pleased. Their conscience became dull and insensitive to what was dishonourable and honourable.
God most definately did not intend in His creation to have men with men and women with women. This is the result of man turning away from God. God's intention is for man and women to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. To be a type of Him and the Church.. the Bride of Christ.
This matter of same sex orientation has its root in what men and women have allowed to enter into their minds. Satan will NOT pass up an opportunity to polute the mind of men and women. I live near toronto and the atmosphere is charged with this kind of Principality and power in the air.
I can just pray that the Lord has a way to rescue many out of this kind of sin. It truly damages even the nicest people. Its one of those sins where God is forced to give ppl up... since they have almost no reasoning against it and just sink deeper and deeper in logic to defend it. Its a real lock and prison satan has devised to trap man. May the Lord have mercy.

the fact of the matter is people think homosexuality is a sin because of the bible. god did not write the bible. people like you and me wrote it. the book is an opinion not a fact. i am not saying that i don't believe in god or anything like that. but people act as if the bible is something god himself sat down and wrote for us to live by. it's not. and if you read the bible it is completely out-dated. there are plenty of things that are in there that are a "sin" that people do every day and think nothing of it. god says pre-marital sex is a sin yet people do it everyday. so why is one sin less severe than the other? and you choose to have pre-marital sex, you do not choose to be a homosexual. i completely agree with you on that. why would someone choose to be ridiculed, disowned and looked down upon? you can't help who you love. being heterosexual you should know that as well. people are narrow minded and will use any excuse to validate their point. even if it is completely ridiculous.

Try abstaining. Then maybe fasting and praying for an answer. Someone addicted to drugs or pornography may have the same struggles. Only Jesus can direct you.

GOD didn't make you or anyone else a homosexual. You made you a homosexual when you gave into your lust. If you do not repent and except JESUS CHRIST as your Savior you will spend eternity in the lake of fire with all else who rejected CHRIST in their temporal life. Have a nice day...
