Since I keep hearing Christians bemoaning that teachers cannot lead students in prayer in public schools I think I’ve worked out a solution.

Mondays is god day: Every Monday teachers would lead students in a prayer to a god. The first Monday could be Thor, the next week Yahweh; the next week might be Quetzalcoatl.

Tuesday is Goddess day: We would tell the students that the previous god was total nonsense and they would be lead in prayer to Isis one week and maybe Hecate the next, etc.

Wednesday is atheist day: Students would be told that the previous days were nonsense and they could celebrate themselves.

Thursday is agnostic day: Students would be told that agnosticism is the only viable philosophy and what they heard Wednesday was total nonsense.

Friday would be free choice: Students would be given megaphones to make what ever pronouncements they would like to.

Or… We could spend our time teaching math, literacy and science.

Well, judging by the amount of truly shocking spelling, bad grammar and general poor reasoning you see just in this section, I'm thinking math, literacy and science are the way to go.

Glitter! Math and reading? LOL! You are joking I hope!

Illiteracy is a serious problem! Math we use it every day.

By the way the question, funny! Thanks for the giggle!

Public schools should be a protected neutral ground. However, I have come to understand that teaching science is not neutral for some people. I suggest a compulsory field trip to a dinosaur site. Kids spend a week digging up bones, cataloguing, looking into microscopes, making plaster casts of Dino bones and so on, then go to a real museum and work there for at least another week. Then maybe a trip to a lab, a hospital, a trip to a science centre and so on. Obviously second hand information isn't doing it for some people.

As for the idea of proof. There is considerable material that tells us that the story of Adam and Eve isn't Jewish or Christian. As with other things in the bible that are scattered remnants of other beliefs and stories, it is out of context with its own origins.

History....essential that it is honest, objectively taught, revealed to all and relentless in its pursued of knowledge not opinion.

A moment of silence, not muttering, in the morning for whatever... done in a private way, would be fine.

Peace!

Schools should stick to math, literacy and science. Parent can teach children that they can talk to God, silently, any time and any place.

kids go to school to learn, prayer is something that should be done at home as a family, but a person should not be punished if he or she chooses to pray at school. of course there would be an appropriate time and place for that too.

These poor kids that are being used as tools for the religious agenda.

School is for math, science, history, literacy...
Church is for religion.

Why can't the religious understand this?

I believe prayer should be left out of school. But not the Pledge of Allegiance.

I believe it should be up to each parent to teach their child what the family believes. However, if a child ever wanted to pray in school, I do not believe they should be thwarted for extending their beliefs.

Hmm, I don't know. It sounds like that might lead to a whole generation being able to think for itself. Who knows where that might lead?
