There is no software that will speed up downloads. Downloads are different than webpages which can be made to seem like they are opening quicker by loading in lower resolution which is what internet speed boosters do. The only tactic I can suggest is a better internet service provider. ie. If you are on dialup then switch to broadband or if you are on DSL broadband switch to cable broadband etc. etc. Good Luck HTH.

Upgrade your modem to DSL or cable.
Your download speed mostly varies on that. Could be network congestion or using a shared line will slow it down. Also, the server sending you the information has to be able to handle it as well. Plus, the farther away the server is (say you're in the U.S. and the server is in Australia), it takes longer.
Your BUS may be slow too. Or it's your CPU. (CPU's that say 2.4 gig or whatever will actually be lowered. Almost no computer maker such as Dell, HP will put it at 2.4. More like 2.0. Don't ask me why they do this because I find it retarded and also find it as false advertising.)
But any number of factors can make it slow. Add to the fact that you're downloading video and more than likely big clips. That takes time. Audio can too, depending on the size.
So look at your computer and determine if it's actually fast or just advertised as, go to a site to see your download speed and the server you might be downloading from could be across the country or getting a lot of requests and that takes bandwith. (Some sites restrict how much bandwith is being used by one user so more users can get to the file at the same time. Otherwise, you may have "this page cannot be displayed".)
Oh and one more thing. Software to help you download faster simply doesn't work. It's usually installed in download managers. The way they speed up downloads is look for mirror sites with the same file and download it into segments (not a bad idea but a lot of sites don't have mirror sites in their list).

bad news your computer might have a virus. you can purchase or if you prefer, download a free trial version software which uptimizes the performance of your computer. Maintaining your PC is your responsiblity. You can also help clean things up by defragmenting each hard drive disk. Right click Local disk drive>click properties>tools. There you can defragment and check for errors.
General tab allows you to run disk cleanup.
You might have some unnecessary programs runnig on your PC that might be taking up hard disk space making things slower. Go into add remove programs and see what can be removed, programs you don't need. I heard the amount of icons on your destop can take up space too. Limit the amount on shortcuts on your desktop. Also when you're downloading stuff make sure you don't have a lot of windows up or other programs running at the same time.
OH AND MOST IMPORTANTLY IT'S YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION SPEED THAT IS MAKING DOWNLOADS TAKE LONGER

Hi,
Download speeds have very little do do with the speed of your computer. Its to do with the speed of your internet connection. Faster the connection, faster your download speeds.
To boost download speeds, you can use a good download manager. The best free software i know of is called FREE DOWNLOAD MANAGER. You can download it from
http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/download.htm
You can use software like limewire or bittorrent clients like utorrent or azureus to download songs and videos. WARNING: Downloading copyrighted stuff form the net is illegal.

Your computer speed has nothing to do with your Internet connection speed. The only way to speed that up is to get a faster package from your Internet Service Provider. If you are using dial-up, there's nothing you can do except upgrade to broadband (cable, DSL, etc.).

Your internet connection may not be geared for speedy downloads, or the connection your downloading from.
