My boyfriend is a Marine and is unable to make it to my prom this saturday! How can I have a good time w/o being bumed that he's not there....

I agree with landa i chaperoned my niece's prom last year and Oh my god looked at all the girls who did not have dates and they were having an excellent time . sometimes you do have more fun if the guys are'nt there . You go and have a wonderfull time there is no rule that says you have to have a date . good luck and have a wonderfull time .

If I could do it all over, knowing what I know now, I would rather go to Prom with a friend than take a date. Someone who did not feel obligated to sleep with me afterwards or to create romance where there's just fun and good times. That would be worth remembering.
If you have a male friend (particularly a gay and unattached friend who needs a date), you could go dutch and just have a good time without feeling pressured to have some kind of romantic epiphany. Might even be a good idea, if you have a particular friend in mind, to have your boyfriend ask this person via e-mail to take you in his place.
And feel happy for your friends that do have romance drama the night of the Prom, and happy that you'd rather wait for someone special overseas than with an actual romantic date.

Now a days people don't go with dates that often. Go with a bunch of girls that don't have dates either.
