diarrhoea can be caused by several things ,, most of the cases it is a result of infection and the rest is a result of food posioning (by the dropping /toxins of bacteria) ..
Also some occur by chemical toxications like if u obviously drank any nasty chemicals .. etc ..
anyways .. ur food might have been contaminated with bacteria (rotten/old/ uncooked propely...) and in this case it usually takes 6-12 hours for the symptoms to show (stomach pain/vomit) and about 12-18 hours for diarrhoea.
things like Salmonella & E.coli will show symptoms instantly (within few hours) .. <--- these are usually in eggs/chicken/meat or can be found in nuts!
in ur case it might have been any of them .. but most likely the eggs.. but then again it might have been the salad or if u used mayo ...etc
u cant tell unless u have a sample of all these tested and a stool sample taken .. to compare ..
its no use to find what caused it usually just try to treat it i would say ..

You can never be too sure about partial blockages especially if they eat sometihing like an old sock or dead mole etc. Problem is partical blockagaes can go wrong very quickly with devastating results. They usually retch 3 or 4 times before vomiting (it's like a pump building up pressure first.) If it is food quality induced vomiting then withhold food for 24 hours and then go onto cooked rice and a little boiled chicken for a few days. If the dog isn't drinking much, syringe in some Pedialyte or if you don't have that then a little Gatorade. It could be worms or bacteria causing it but you have to eliminate one possible cause at a time. See your vet immediately if there is pain (dog stands awkwardkly and tremors), the gums are pale or there is blood in the vomit. If attempts to vomit fail. If bloating comes on. If the dog might have eaten something poisonous. If the dog isn't drinking and passing urine of a healthy yellow colour.

Most diarrhoea appears within 12 hours of eating tainted food! The pistachios would be an unlikely culprit, the curry would have passed through the bowel we before 11pm the next day, so I think you can safely say, warm egg salad sandwiches are not a good idea. Eating eggs that you havn't cooked yourself is always a risk. In future, have cheese!!!

It depends on which strain of bacterium made you ill. Some have a diarrhea effect within 2-3 hours, others can take 24 hours or more. Only way to know for sure would be to have a doc examine a stool sample. Regardless, you will probably feel better in 24-48 hours. If you spike a high fever, or have bloody diarrhea, extreme vomiting, or extremely painful cramping, you need to go to a hospital for IV fluids and meds.

For me personally, I ate something on a friday night around 8 pm and the next day around 3 oclock I was admitted in the hospital. I had a stomach ache and heartburn ALL night long. I have heard stories about people getting sick just hours after eating something, but for me I felt the pain, but the diarrhea didnt start until about 18 hours later...As for how long it takes to got thru, It was all out for me in about a day and a half, then the doctors gave me the antidiarrheal. It isnt good to take that medicine when you still are having the diarrhea because it will keep the germ in your body longer. Your bodies natural reaction is to flush it out and get it out of the body. So, keep up your fluids, gatorade, water, salt...and rest, then when you feel most of it is gone, start with the antidiarrhea meds...Hope you feel bettter!

Food poisoning takes about 24 hours to kick in. If you eat something that is perfectly good but just disagrees with you it can be less. My money would be on the sandwich
