Isn't it your favoured wish that things will get worse, so you can point to these catastrophes and tell people these are signs from your god that the Second Coming is at hand?

It does seem to make them apathetic to the horrors of the world. Their response is "See, the Bible said it would happen" when it should be "That is absolutely horrible and barbaric."

The Bible says that there will be no warning when Jesus will come. Luke 12:39-40 "And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." KJV
I know, you'll probably say something silly like, "So Jesus is a thief"? All the Bible is saying here, is that just like we don't know when a thief will come, we don't know when Jesus will come. 2 Peter 3:10-11 "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness," KJV
Nobody, not even Jesus, knows when He's coming back. Mark 13:32-33 "But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is." KJV If people knew or even expected a sign, they would live as they please right up until the last hour. Then they would start supposedly living for God and expect Him to take them to heaven. That's why were told over and over to watch and pray, and be ready at all times.
No, I don't hope things in the world get worse. I really don't see how they could get much worse. So many thousands upon thousands of people are deceived by the Devil into believing that they are on the right path to heaven. He's got them so convinced that all they have to do is BELIEVE that Jesus is the son of God, and they'll go to heaven. ...the devils also believe, and tremble."KJV James 2:19 Are the devils going to heaven?
You say that we're incapable of solving the worlds problems. Are you capable of this? Why would you believe that we would have anymore power than you. Christians are only human. We just trust in God to do as He sees fit. I hope and pray that things will get better. But how can they when Satan has so many millions of followers. And most of them don't even realized that they are doing his dirty work.
It's a scary world we live in. And even scarier when we think of all the people out there that don't trust in God.

This seems to suggest that there are millions of Christians with the answers to world problems, but aren't doing a thing because of the possibility of the Second Coming.

I'm going to keep my answer doctrine free and just say what I see on a local level.

In the small area I live in England there is a group that deals with youth interaction providing recreational activities and advice. There is a group that provides a dinner club and outings for the elderly. A service for people to access advice and guidance on jobs and education. There's at least one soup kitchen. An employment surgery. A parish nurse.

All of these are church led. Groups trying to make a grass roots change and I'm guessing you'll see a lot of grass roots church led work in most areas where there are Christians.

And YES sometimes the church is incapable. A lack of money, a lack of people and even political intervention all block work being done. In England the only reason a prisoner rehabilitation scheme was closed down because it was church led.

I am Christian and I believe God gave us this planet to take care of and when we destroy it and each other we are going against God.

I think it is 100% important for Christians to conserve the environment, feed the hungry, end poverty, stop war and injustice.

The Kindom of God is in heaven true, but the earth is our home now and moreover it is a gift from our Creator. How we treat the home given to us here is a reflection on whether we can truly appreciate our home beyond.

And when you think about it, the attitudes the lead to the global problems we have "greed, power-hunger, racism, materialism, showy display of wealth, gluttony, hate, anger etc.) are not Christian values are they?

So in fact, being a good Christian should also be good for the planet. And THANK YOU Scottie, you are right, we do not know the day nor hour. It could be tomorrow, it could be 1000 years from now.

How are Christians going to stand before Christ and answer when he asks, 'What did you do with the talents given to you? How did you treat the least of my brothers?"

Are they going to say, 'Well, I KNEW you were coming ANYWAY so..... I just waited for YOU to come and fix things."

A Christians job and duty is to tell the good news of salvation, and to warn those that have not accepted the truth of the promised savior about the things to come.

We tell of GOD'S love that gives everyone a choice, to be uplifted or trotted upon.

Uplifted means protected by GOD, or trotted upon by the wrath that will come against the evils of Satan and those who follow the same things that got Satan kicked out of heaven.

No, not at all. That's popular though among non-believers, but it is just not true.

Christian's should, by their love of God, love God's creation. As Christians we should do all that we can to protect the environment, eco-system, and the delicate balance of nature because it is all part of God's plan.

The second-coming will happen when it's supposed to and not before. We cannot cause Christ to come earlier or later then is already decided upon. But when he does come, those that love him would certainly want to be able to say that we cared for all of his creation.

I don't feel that way at all! I'm on the mailing list of the Save Darfur organization, and I e-mail president Bush a lot to let him know that we need to get over there and help people. I wish more people would take better care of the environment, because if Christ doesn't come before I die, I want my kids to live someplace nice. I want world peace, its just not going to happen.

A Christian KNOWS that certain things will progress until all prophecies are fulfilled. Furthermore, a Christian KNOWS that these things will come to pass in God's own timing. We don't have to work towards any of them being fulfilled.

A favored wish? No. It's just a reality which we accept.

What does being a Christian have to with Solving global warming? You really have a twisted view. Why not try picking up the good book and read it.Sounds to me as you know nothing about Christians.Than maybe you can write a question that makes sense.People are bringing these things on to themselves. But it sure isn't the Christian one who are doing it.We are just prepared for it.YOU could be too.

fantastic question..

being a christian, i'd looooveee to be a global problem solver because i beleive god can do wonders. i appear to be incapable either because i havent applied my faith in this area or because the problem is being aggravated by people who really dont know how to collectively act to make an effect.
like i said, good question !!
one thing for sure, if it is global warming that should lead to christ's second coming, i dont think someone could collectively act or apply faith to stop it..

If you would read the Bible you would see how that is what the word says. Doesn't mean we want bad things to happen just means we know that is the devil working in the world to destroy what God has created and yes you are correct it is signs that the 2nd coming is getting closer every day.
