My Son Was Biten By A Stray Kitten.?
It punctured the heel of his hand. I called his doc and they said he needed another tecnis shot and to take antibiotics for 10 days. Also we have to keep the kitten that he caught for 10 days to watch how it acts before we can give it over to animal control (by the way animal control had been contacted twice to pick up these animals but has never kept their word).
So he had the shot yesterday, today he is in a lot of pain from that arm. Is this normal? I was just checking here because it is so early in the morning and the doc office hasn't opened. So all you that are concerned, don't worry I am calling a professional as soon as I can.

if he had a tetanus shot then yes they do hurt and cause a lot of pain for some people, put a cold pack on it for 10/15 minutes and then to a warm pack, the swelling should go down and the pain should ease up some.....call the animal control and or ocntact your public health department about the bite...

I wonder why the Doc said he needed another tetnus shot, they are good for at least 7 years, and as a paramedic I have given plenty of shots and if a person is scared they tighten the muscle up and it is painful the next day, also injecting the vaccine too fast can make it sore, I wouldn't worry about the arm.

What I would do is check in with a professional like you said. But there are some things you can do before that as well to see if you can get rid of it yourself. i would look around the wound and look for any circles around the puncture marks. then if there is none there look around the area at the veins and see if any of them are a bright red or inflamed. (it is a common symptom that it can do that and if it does then definitely get professional help.) then add lots of neosporan and peroxide and medical alcohol, and bandage it up.make sure to keep it taught, around the wound. That is what I would suggest. if none of them work and the wound still is infected then you really need medical help.
if you have any questions about this that i did not cover and your still wondering you may email me at hawkins_talwin@yahoo.com
I hope your son gets better and i wish you the best of luck!

A puncture wound is very painful. My dog accidentially bit my foot when I was kicking a football to her. My dumb mistake. The tetnus shot is probably what is causing the soreness in the arm. They are a real you know what. Check the puncture wound, make sure that it hasn't changed in appearance, that it is not red, inflamed or oozing puz. Make sure that there are no red lines radiating outward from the puncture sight. Make sure he is not running a fever, keep him on the antibiotics until they are completely finished.

Tetanus shots can be quite painful. I had a booster a few years ago, and the pain was pretty significant. I would give him some children's tylenol, and maybe an ice pack. Good luck with everything.

Yes the tetanus shot is quite painful. Give him some Tylenol if he is suffering too badly from it. What a mess! Good luck!

Angry cat bites are bad. Just keep him comfortable with Tylenol or whatever. Call the doctor but I'm sure this is very normal. The cat won't have rabies so relax.
