I can't answer your question precisely unless you tell me what kind of rebellion the Pope was involved in when he was young. If you are referring to his membership in Hitler's youth let me remind you that all German youth were required to be a member of that organization.

No, he wasn't a rebel. What you've probably heard is that he was a member of the Nazi youth, and went into the Nazi army. Both of those are true, but they were forced. He actually deserted from the army when he was deployed because he disliked that Nazi's ideals and what they were doing so much. I hope that this helps, at least somewhat. Good luck and God bless...

I have not read the biography of the Pope. And I do not know what do you imply or intend to imply with your question. I can only assume this or that.

But the fact is that God chooses anyone for a specific task
irrespective of what background one has or had.

This is a charicteristic that makes God different from you and I.
