i don't think they'll leave in 6 months. maybe in a year or a bit less. i think this because of how long they've stayed there already.

No, it will be longer than six months. My guess it will be about 20 months, because that is how much time Bush has in office. The new President, whoever he/she may be will pull the plug on our presence in Iraq. And the timing will be about right.

Right now, despite all rhetoric to the contrary, Iraq is not yet a lost cause. But we alone can not fix it. (even though we broke it) It will also take the Iraqi's and their neighbors.

But in 20 months, either Iraq will have some semblance of stability and people will be returning, or it will indeed be a lost cause that we will have no power to fix militarily. So, no matter what, we bring our troops home.

Honestly, even if all hostilities cease, America will probably have a military presence there for many years to come. Sort of a way to protect the new government's back just as we do in Japan, Germany and many other countries. The only way we will completely leave is if the Iraqi government asks us to. That probably won't ever happen because it would leave the Iraqi government vulnerable. As a fledgling democracy in a sea of tyrants, they deserve a fighting chance at survival.

The more democracies in the world the better. We have never had to war against a democracy in our entire history.

Some will, but not all. There will need to forces in there for a long time as there has been in Korea. I just hope it switches to a humanitarian mission.

No. We'll be there for years, just as we are in Germany, Korea and everywhere else we've fought and won wars. By the way, what's wrong with winning?????
