I doubt there is one. Sure some are more yummy than others but many of the different types go great with different things. One cheese doesn't fit all for recipes or taste. There are so many textures, and mouth feels, and degrees of sharpness. There are cheeses from all over the world so picking one is quite a chore.

It all depends on your taste. I love "real" cheese, none of these processed concoctions that is called cheese in the grocery stores. Those are not cheese, but cold flat shiny= well, pudding.

Real hard white cheeses are the best. I can also eat the softer cream cheeses.

Cheese is perfectemundo! could no longer be with out the stuff. i admire a stable mature cheddar (exceptionally on toast with purple onion mmm) or a effective smoked swiss cheese. Oh oh and mozarella in salads and pizza and parmesan for all italiany dishes! it extremely is purely too damn stable! can not be gettin' sufficient of the ol' cheese

English Cheddar for snacking. Salty high fat. Actually, it depends on what youre eating and how old you are. Those stinky cheeses go well with wine once youre odl enough. I guess our tastebuds all go in the end. I always loved ricotta! Or goat cheese in a salad...

Planetmatt has got the right idea ... Mascarpone, with a velvety texture, just sweet enough, like Mother's Milk straight from Venus ....... Good with everything savory or sweet .... and truly marvelous with a good Chianti, and toasted Ciabatta ....maybe a few Olives, and Dates .......
