Go to the bike shop and have them fit you. They can make recommendations based on your build and needs within your budget.

Diamondback 2012 Grind 20 BMX bike (20-Inch) is unquestionably a step up from what you may get out of your close by vast-container shop. you're able to finding an identical bike at your close by bike shop or activities shop. i offered it because of the fact i wanted some thing lighter and better-high quality than the get admission to-point motorcycles.

I like Kristys answer^^^. Go to your bike shop and get fitted. If they are a good shop, they will do their job well as they want you to come back.
You can also go to your nearest Club night and talk to other riders. Some will let you get a feel of their bikes too. You might even score a good buy in a 2nd hand bike.

A Redline, Haro, You will find you get good advice from fellow racers in the club, and you will often find club members selling bikes. It is a great sport, and i have always found BMX members and organisers very friendly and helpful. Have fun and good luck.

Depending on how much you want to spend, fmf makes an excellent complete. the only thing i would change for a beginner bike would be 180mm cranks and some bigger bars. http://www.danscomp.com/101595.php?cat=BIKES
thats the bike i used to race when i was a 17 rookie. got me to 7th state rank. after moving up to 17-24 expert i started racing a kuwahara frame. great frame but pricey. i would seriously recomend the FMF though.
