i downloaded a file with extension .mdf or .mds .. How in the world do i open it??

.mds = This file is used by several different programs. It generally is found with an .ISO CD image file and is the equivalent of what a .CUE file is to a .BIN image. IsoBuster can interpret these files directly.
.mdf = One of several CD image formats that Alcohol 120% can mount. Alcohol 120% is used for media backup. IsoBuster can interpret these files directly.

its an image which can only be mounted as a virtual drive. you need software for virtual drive like "alcohol" or "daemon tools" to mount it. you can get "alcohol" from this link: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Alcohol_120.htm
