Yes we in the "west" do have individuals that mistreat women, but at least we have legal systems in place that try to protect them and a society that frowns on such behaviour.
Unlike some Muslim countries which stone women to death for adultery while excusing the males involved for all sorts of reasons. Where brothers murder their sisters for dishonouring their families. One has to assume they are perfect although murder is probably one of the most horrible crimes.
Then there is the crime of rape for which the woman is found responsible because she must have driven the poor man to lust.
