What is it about our freedom of choice that rubs people the wrong way? Is it the accountability thing or what?

I am not sure what you are saying but needless to say Jesus never forced himself on anyone. He always left the decision up to the one he was talking to or ministering to. Remember, the Rich Young Ruler had a choice put before him and he freely chose to walk away.

God wants a covenant relationship with us. That means each freely choosing the other. God has chosen us. It is up to us to choose God. That is called free will.

And don't forget Joshua's great spech at the end of his life walking with God. "Choose this day whom you will serve..."

Yeah....you are on to something with the "accountability thing" for sure.

People want to do what they want, whenever they want without consequence.

They don't understand the Free Will only works to the persons advantage if they remain within the guidelines of the holy Scriptures (Bible).

"I didn't asked to be born" is a frequent line I hear so that they can do what they want.

They are also the ones that think that God, our heavenly Father, The Almighty One actually created the Devil or Satan just the way he is, which, of course couldn't be farther from the truth. (Compare Ezekiel 28:12-19 that shines great light on this)

Christians make a big point of us having free will but if we use it in a way they don't like then we are sinners. It is just another of the many ways that religion uses in it's efforts to take control of how we think and in fact to try to stop us thinking. Very effective until the middle of the 20th century but I think people are beginning to see through it all now.

I don;t know. many people want what eachother has, and a way to get even is to try and take eachother's freedom in some way. Christian and Athiests are at constant war. which is funny because Christians claim to be loving and accept anybody and Athiests claim to be open minded yet we dis eachother. doesn't make a bit of sense to me. I am a christian and do have athiest friends and get along fine. but anywhere else and especially here in the Q&A site.

I think it's the Christian attempt at justifying why the world is such a mess that people reject. Not the free will. They don't see free will as an excuse for why a perfect and loving creator has let things go to pot for so long.

Too much of a good thing is no good.

We are seeing the effects of over indulgences now.

So many overweight thanks to fast foods prevalent on every corner, in practically every country.

Making personal limitations to our individual freedom would be a better choice.

For me, it puts God under our thumb and yes, this bothers me. It makes salvation itself nothing more than a business transaction of a telemarketing God advertising an offer rather than a Holy Spirit working in our hearts, with grace preceding faith.

The entire salvation process belongs to God, and taking it for ourselves is arrogant, humanist, and even blasphemous in my opinion.

It has nothing to do with accountability or us being robots or any of that stupid crap I hear. After Adam sinned man cannot choose to do good. at least not as God is concerned. we are dead. How can the dead choose to follow Christ? Did Lazarus choose to come forth? No. Jesus quickened him and then he listened to Jesus. Jesus quickens His people and then they follow Him. But it is mainly that God is sovereign. Not man. The potter makes some vessels of righteousness and others vessels of wrath. You believe that Christ died for an if. I believe that Christ died for His elect and that He will save every last one of them. Not one will perish. God is not sovereign if He is held to the whim of man. But I will say that all men are free to choose God, it is just that sin will keep every last man from doing so unless God quickens him.

We have free will but, that only counts when we use the free will according to the will of God. Free will out side of God's will is sin, and not beneficial to us. People think we can do what ever we want, and get confused about free will. That is why we get called hypocrites.

Freedom of choice like Freedom of speech is a great thing as long as you don't actually try and use it.If you stray from the norm then "THEY" dont like it.
