Two of the greatest Light Heavys ever this would be a great match up. I would just favour Foster to out box Spinks in this one i see it going to the cards and ending in a decision victory for Foster. Two really hard hitting Light Heavys which were capable of knocking out an opponent at any time but i just think that both would know how hard that the other hit and so would try and avoid getting into a war and hence Bobs boxing skills winning him a tight bout.

Your questions implies that Foster and Spinks were top-rated light-heavies, when that just is not true. The greatest light-heavy of all time was Archie Moore: 194 wins (141 by KO), 26 losses and 8 draws.
Here is a list of the top-ten light-heavies of the 20th century as determined by a 5-man panel of Sports Illustrated writers:
1. Archie Moore, 194-26-8, 141 KO's. 1936-63. 28 years active.
2. Billy Conn, 63-11-1, 14 KO's. 1934-48. 11 years active.
3. Ezzard Charles, 96-25-1, 58 KO's. 1940-59. 17 years active.
4. Roy Jones Jr., 40-1, 33 KO's. 1989-still active.
5. Jimmy Bivins, 86-25-1, 31 KO's. 1940-55. 15 years active.
tie. Bob Foster, 56-8-1, 46 KO's. 1961-78. 18 years active.
7. Harold Johnson, 76-11, 32 KO's. 1946-71. 23 years active.
8. Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, 100-7-16, 46 KO's, 33 ND. 1901-12. 12 years active.
tie. Tiger Jack Fox, 120-18-6, 81 KO's, 1932-50. 17 years active.
10. Maxie Rosenbloom, 208-37-22, 19 KO's, 22 ND. 1923-39. 15 years active.
As you can see, neither Foster nor Spinks made the top-ten list.

M. SPINKS - W 31 (KO 's 21) TF 32 - W pct 97% - KO pct 66% - wins over M. Johnson, M. Muhammad, Qawi, Holmes[2] and Conney - KO'ed by Tyson - # 42 ranked puncher - # 41 ranked fighter
First fighter as Lt Hy wt to gain Hy wt title
Won 1976 Olympic Gold medal at middle wt
Tittles at Lt Hy wt and Hy wt
Spinks was a very awkward fighter/good puncher/good boxer. Foster was a great puncher/ decent boxer. The question is whether Spinks had a great chin or was he just hard to hit. In this bout, I have Foster by a 15 rd unanimous decision.

Great matchup! I think maybe Spinks in a close one. Note: I think Spinks moved up because he saw Evander Holyfield coming out of the Olympics, and wanted no part of him at Lt. Heavy. By then, there wasn't anybody left in the division so Holyfield lifted weights and moved up. I believe he would have been the greatest Lt. Heavy of all-time easily.

great matchup Brent! I rank Foster #2 and Spinks #3 at the back of Archie Moore as a results of fact the terrific Lgt Heavyweights of all time. the two adult men had great punching ability and proper boxing skills. this could be a stable boxing tournament with the two adult men utilizing an effectual jab against the different. i think that the two adult men could land some stable punches yet could proceed to exist. i think of that Foster wins via a slender split determination.
