I have notices that these two religions in particular seem to go after those who are less affluent and also maybe those who are from a different culture? To prey on someone based on their situation (poverty, new to the country, etc) I notice they don't walk around the rich white neighborhoods trying to "save", why can't they leave us alone too?

No kidding, Catholics don't go door-to-door, don't patronize me, if you're not smart enough to figure out my iomplications then ignore the entire question.

Oh, I knew this would be a good one! I actually got some intelligent answers from those who actually understand what I'm getting at. Those who don't can banish in eternal hellfire at the end of their days. I'll be non-existant and worrying about nil as the world comes crashing to an end int he Rapture. *giggle giggle*

Because they seek the down trodden. Those that perhaps relinquished hope and wallow in despair. People that seek "answers" to their woes and don't want to take responsibility for their plight. To these religious groups as well as many others "God" is the answer to all. Im an Atheist and I'm a minority and I wholeheartedly disagree with their dogmas. We humans are the answer to our problems. We have to be accountable for what we do and how we act to our fellow man. "God" is a filler so we can shirk responsibility. Tell these clowns to buzz off and don't come back or the authorities will be called.

Boy, are you full of venom. You must have watched Knocking the other night and are in a real panic that they may be right.

Congregation territories are in the areas where the congregation is located. In Overland Park, an upper income region of Kansas City, there are several congregations. They work the territories in Overland Park. Those in the low income areas work those areas. They don't cross over.

Before spewing vile lies, take the time to study with the JWs and you will learn what kind of lies you can tell about them that are at least partially based of some facts.

i have been a Catholic all my life. I have never been to a Catholic church that does what you say. recently i was in a student organziation at my school and our staff member who was a sponser was a "new" Catholic. the students who were members were all "cradle Catholics". we wanted to open our group to all faiths and not have "strickly" Catholic meetings and Bible studies. Our sponser was a little on the fire and brimstone side. I am not sure if it was because she was a convert but we had to find another sponser. now our group and other religious student organziations have joined together. i believe the Catholics and the Presbyterians have linked up. that would not have been possible with our former sponser. the one person who said that Catholics are viewed as non christians is right. and other thing is that there are different "Catholics" out there. Roman Catholic, Greek Orthadox Catholics etc. i am sorry you have had bad experiences with those Catholics, all i can say is keep them in your prayers as i do our former sponser.

Actually, you would be correct to notice that the catholics, and jehovah's witness' go after the poverty stricken. However, the Catholics don't go door to door, that might be the Mormons/Church of Latter Day Saints.

Why do they do this?

First off, many people of organized Christian faith, myself excluded, believe people to be poverty stricken because of their "heathen"/"Sinful" ways; this is wrong and unjustified. I have studied the bible and in many places it says to treat people with equality; even your enemies.

I find it disheartening that these two religious faiths would be preying on people purely because of their location, racial background, or income. What religious faith you believe is your own personal choice, not mine. If anyone asked me why I was different from someone else, I would tell them it was because of Jesus, but I wouldn't go plastering it around or going door to door handing out pamphlets.

Actions make the person, and respecting everyone no matter their differences is what will make the future brighter. They should either stop picking on minorities, or start picking on everyone; that's my opinion anyway.

Jehovah's Witnesses certainly do not shy away from performing their door-to-door ministry in so-called "rich white neighborhoods". Witness ministers are similarly undeterred by gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or national origin.

(Acts 10:34-35) God is not partial, but in every nation [or neighborhood] the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him

Admittedly, it may seem that Jehovah's Witnesses spend more time in modest neighborhood, but that is simply because Witness ministers are typically able to canvass especially affluent neighborhoods somewhat more quickly than others. In some cases this is simply because these householders are not often at home. Sadly, some "affluent" householders tend to be somewhat dismissive and unwilling to spend even a moment discussing the bible, and so Witness ministers move on quickly to the next home.

(Matthew 19:24) It is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to get into the kingdom of God.

Once all the homes in a neighborhood have been contacted, Witnesses move on to another neighborhood. So-called "affluent" neighborhoods are worked no more or less frequently than any other neighborhood in a congregation's territory.

(Matthew 10:14) Wherever anyone does not take you in or listen to your words, on going out of that house or that city shake the dust off your feet.

Each congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses tries to knock at every home in its assigned territory at least once or twice each year. No neighborhood is worked more or less frequently based on some supposed level of "affluence", but (generally) every neighborhood is worked before the circuit of neighborhoods is repeated.

(Mark 6:6) [Jesus] went round about to the villages in a circuit, teaching.

Incidentally, it seems odd to ignore the fact that Christianity is particularly comforting to disadvantaged persons.

(Matthew 11:28-30) Come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart, and you will find refreshment for your souls. For my yoke is kindly and my load is light.

I don't believe it's patronizing to acknowledge that in your question, you did indeed indicate that Catholics walk around neighborhoods trying to save (as you are speaking of both religions). Perhaps a rewording would make your intention clearer.

And in that rewording, I would be interested in hearing your definition of "preying" on other cultures.

I think that you are very mis-informed here, Catholics are one of the very few who do not preach to others nor constantly frighten people with Hellfire, they are a rare sight indeed at peoples doors and I have never seen this in my lifetime.
Of all the Christian denominations it is Catholics who are constantly bashed as being non-Christian etc, and lastly Catholics rarely judge other denominations. It sounds to me that you are less concerned with poor people than you are with judging others
You are very wrong with this statement and should re-think what you have said.

Peace be with you.

I imagine that you don't see them walking around in rich neighbourhoods because you don't live there. Do you follow them around the entire day to see if they go door to door in a rich neighbourhood?

And the muslims aren't using kids none the less to bomb and destroy people out of hate for someone who is different, right. This world is blind.
