I was reading somewhere on the internet that zits that never go away could be some type of staff infection and left untreated it can go into the blood stream. The doctor said that my boil is probably a bacterial infection caused by a small cut. He said he didn't see a cut but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. Do you think that my viral zit went into my blood stream and is spreading?

A staph infection is very serious. I had a couple of them within a 2 month period and was hospitalized for iv treatment both times. You can pick up staph anywhere from your local walmart to your local gym. The staph that is going around now is harder to cure it is antibiotic resistance staph. That is why I was hospitalized. I am now a carrier of staph. They have not been able to completly rid me of it. If my immune system is lowered because of stress lack of sleep, cold I tend to get a staph infection again. Your doctor can do a culture test to determine if you have staph or not. Staph can get into your blood stream but you would be really sick so I don't think yours has gotten that far.

I dont know about the viral zit versus bacterial boil, but if you get another boil, go back to your doctor. A second boil could mean MRSA (the staff infection kind of boil). I know a little girl who caught MRSA boils and her mom didn't stick to the antibiotics and so the little girl is a permanent carrier. I guess like 80% of the doctors in my local hospital carry MRSA.
