The last time I attended church was seriously over 8 years ago roughly. I decided to go visit my friends church because I have become lazy, unmotivated, and jaded with life. Pretty much I live without any purpose and became a drone. Well when I visited my friends church.my shoulders were tense, my neck hurt, and I felt like I was physically sick. Also I was surpirised because the sermon that was given had no affect on me emotionally. I believe I have become extremely calloused and blackened of the heart. What is wrong?

this could be for a couple reasons and the obvious being that perhaps you were just sick. but lets look at it for a religious point of view. it appears you are unhappy with the way things are going for you right now and the fact alone that your unhappy could have this affect on you. Proverbs 15:13-14:
13 A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sarrow of heart the spirit is broken.
14 The mind of him who has understanding, seeks knowledge, inquires after and craves it, but the mouths of (self-confident) fools feed on folly.

Also from another religious standpoint, being that you weren't feeling well in church isn't that you don't belong or shouldn't being going to church, in fact you should never turn away from GOD cause it is only GOD that could make you truly feel good. its good that you are seeking him i feel that is a step in the right direction and i hope the experience you had doesn't keep you from going back. Jesus says, "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."(Mt. 11:28-30)

if you keep your faith strong and truly believe in Jesus and ask for GOD to help you, i believe your problems will go away. if you already don't i suggest you read the Bible, it could be of great comfort.
GOD Bless.

your ashamed of Church. Dont worry about it, no one thinks anything about you for going. Just because you havent been in a while doesnt mean that you dont belong. Its good that your trying to change things, anyone that says other wise doesnt understand your situation. Just go back a few times feel natural and talk to some people. Dont think about it so much. Sermons might not move you, thats no big deal. Life isnt the movies. Read your Bible and you can probably do better than a sermon. But, continue going to church if for nothing else to get out of your funk and have a sense of community.

the tense sick feeling---could have been God letting u feel the burden u are choosing to carry alone.

Was the church boring? really
like dead?

pray ask God, let Him lead u to the church He desires for you.
He is good at placing things in the right place.

Some flowers He puts in th sun and others in the shade.

Things also change in life.

I do not think u are blackened in ur heart.
If u were u would not be concerned,
It sounds to me GOD loves u , He is calling out to HIS child who wandered off. GO HOME TO HIM

well it could be a few things. you may feel ashamed which you should not feel. God always forgives. you may feel judged by the church itself that could be just being self concious. and if the church is really judging you then run and find a church with real christians in it. God also always gives a new heart.

God Bless.

If you're really interested in christianity, you need to go to a church that is teaching christianity. Most of them aren't. I recommend the Calvary Chapels. Here's a link that will give you a Calvary Chapel near you . http://maps.calvarychapel.com/
Hopefully there is a big one near you so you can go there, sit in and listen week after week without anyone bothering you and see if you are interested. Calvary Chapel teaches real christianty, not religion but a personal relationship with a risen savior. The kind of faith that will change your life. There are other good churches besides Calvary Chapels. You just have to look for them. Don't just go to a church because your friends go there. Your friends could be going to a dead church. Christianity is not a rules and regulations religion. It's a supernatural relationship with Christ. Find a church that will show you how to enter that relationship and grow spiritually in Christ. Good luck in your search.

Stop teasing yourself. Next time your friend invites you to church ask her if she'd like to play hide the salami instead. Also, maybe you're tired of hearing the 101 level sermons week after week. Maybe you just need a different teacher (teacher's aren't meant to last a lifetime).

Maybe you simply don't agree with Christianity anymore. You could try to develop your own spiritual path. Just follow your heart and do what feels right. I did and I've felt much more at peace and had a much greater sense of freedom ever since.

If you ask yourself the question seriously, the answer will appear. It's in your heart. Just look for it. Nothing is wrong. These are the symptoms of regaining consciousness.

Maybe you just need to find a more personally inspiring place to go to church... maybe you're a little depressed and nothing feels right?? Go do something (anything) to help motivate you no matter if it's at church or not.... you'll only feel worse if you withdrawl from life.

You are human. The most faithful people, some who have accomplished so much in His Name and to His Glory, admit that they feel dry spiritually and question everything. That is why we read the Word, and grab on to His promises. We need to go through this world by faith, not how we feel. Pray to your Father and ask Him to guide you to the right church for you.[Maybe you caught a preacher on an off day, and it was not all you.]
