Life goes in the direction you aim the steering wheel.

Read Psalms.

I really feel that Joel Osteen is really good for the soul. Life can go where ever you choose. Here are some good verses in the Bible that will give you hope Isaiah 40:31, John 16:33 Ephesians 4:22-24, Proverbs 23:7, Colossians 3:2, Philippians 4:8. These are just a few of so many of the right thoughts that we should dwell on, God does care about you so much, and so do I, peace and love for you.

Lee, even the hardest parts of the Bible are good, if you realize that God is in control. I read the book of Job when I was in a rough patch. The last 2 chapters really rock! The first two chapters helped me realize that God has a reason for things and I can overcome by trusting him.

But, meanwhile, read Psalms, the Gospels and Phillipians.

Read Psalms I really love the 73rd Psalm, the writer Asaph
was really down because it seemed like trying to live a righteous life was futile and that only the wicked get ahead.
David wrote quite a few of the Psalms, 103 is really comforting. Some of the Psalms are prophetic, like Psalms
37. Its one of my favorite Bible books to read,

Psalms are probably the best part of the Bible to read for certain occasions. However, also, pray to the Lord. Just ask Him to send down His Holy Spirit and break all of the demonic plots. Depression is "inspired" be demons. So, ask the Lord to protect you from them. He always answers a prayer from one's heart.

Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand."

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope"

I hope that these make you feel better. I also find comfort in psalms sometimes. I know the feeling of hopelessness and like my life is going nowhere, but at those times I look to God and know that He does have a purpose for us.

I always love Psalms but any part of it is good. Remember God has not given us the spirit of fear but of a sound mind. Go to www.biblegateway.com and put in any word like depression or joy and you will come up with the words where it is in the bible. Remember the JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH!

Romans 8, nothing, no matter what you're going through, no matter what you've done can separate you from the love of God!

This always help me because even through I'm a Christian, I still fail at life quite often, this lifts me up and reminds me that life isn't about perfection, it's more about God's faithfulness in spite of our humanness.

God bless ya, sis!:)

I can't think of a specific book you should read, but I remember a Psalm that helps me get through hard times:

Psalm 34:18
"The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

2Cr 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now [is] the accepted time; behold, now [is] the day of salvation.)

Luk 19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Psa 79:9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
